It was the spiritual home of twelve generations of monks before its renovation from a simple thatched structure into a magnificent temple.

The next destination on the tour is Chen Kieu Pagoda, or it is also known as Sa Lon Pagoda; it is situated in Dai Tam Commune, My Xuyen District, and Soc Trang Province. Founded in 1815 and rebuilt in 1969, this pagoda is specifically noted for its peculiar style of architecture.
Bat Pagoda
Another must-visit destination on our Mekong Tours is the Bat Pagoda or Mahatup Pagoda. One finds it at Van Ngoc Chinh Street, Ward 3, Soc Trang City. This pagoda dates back to 1569.
8:00 AM: Hotel pickup in Can Tho. If you fly to Can Tho, we will pick you up at 9:00 AM from the airport.
9:30 AM: We shall visit the Som Rong Pagoda. You will get a comprehensive tour, discovering an extraordinary architectural complex and learning all about the deeply resplendent history of this holy site. Feel free to spend some time in peaceful meditation and picture-taking of the reclining Buddha.
12:00 PM: Lunch is taken at a local restaurant, enjoying local tastes. This will be an awesome time to unwind and recharge for the afternoon escapades.
1:30 PM: Chen Kieu Pagoda will be the next visited place. You will join in the successfully organized guided tour to visit the unique ceramic-decorated walls and the splendid Tam Quan gate. Walk around the main hall and the garden, and get an inside look into the history and culture of the Khmers.
3:00 PM: Visit the Doi Pagoda. View the bat sanctuary, then learn about the temple’s unusual residents. Take a tour of the peaceful garden and a walk around the main hall for a moment of reflection on what this location means concerning cultural and spiritual heritage.
4:30 PM: The drive to Bac Lieu will take us to the magnificent Nha Cong Tu Bac Lieu, reflecting both the wealth and architectural grace of the early twentieth century. Explore opulent interiors and be enthralled with stories about Tran Trinh Huy Infamous Mastermind.
6:00 PM: Drive back to Can Tho. We will arrive around
7:30 PM. You will then be dropped off at your hotel or the airport, bringing an end to the eventful day of unforgettable experiences.

The Mekong River, the ‘Mother of Waters’, is the heart and soul of mainland South-East Asia. Millions of people depend on its waters. It’s a way of life, a home for the spirits, the defining element in the everlasting battle for survival, and the foundation and boundaries of cultures and kingdoms across eons. The river speaks of the past and the future, of the eternally recurring cycles of nature, of the people living upstream and downstream, of survival, beauty and danger.
Foreigners can’t appreciate the role of the river in the lives of those who live in the Mekong basin. It influences every aspect of their daily existence, shaping not only the land, but also the people themselves.
The Mekong Basin extends over 795,000km2. More than 70 million people, 55 million of which inhabit the watershed area lying within Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Viet Nam, depend on the river and its tributaries for food, water and transport. At 4,350km, the Mekong is the longest river in Southeast Asia and the 12th longest in the world.
The river runs from its source deep in China’s Tsinghai Province through the eastern part of Tibet. From Yunnan province, it becomes the border between Myanmar and Laos, and between Laos and Thailand. From there it surges across Cambodia to Phnom Penh, where the Bassac River branches off. The two rivers continue to divide into nine outlets, the Cuu Long (Nine Dragons) of Vietnam’s Mekong Delta, and finally discharge into the East Sea. The river is navigable from the delta to Southern Laos, where massive waterfalls near the Cambodian border prevent boats from travelling further.
About nine-tenths of the people in the Lower Mekong Basin are engaged in agriculture, mostly rice production on a massive scale, for which irrigation from the Mekong River is essential. A substantial proportion is exported, thus providing the staple diet of a far greater number than just those living in the area.
The Mekong River is also very rich in fish, the single most important source of animal protein in the diet of people living in the Lower Mekong Basin.
