Overview:
Thao Cam Vien – Saigon Zoo & Botanical Gardens is a famous tourist attraction in Saigon, attracting a large number of tourists to visit every day. This place is one of the oldest amusement parks in Vietnam, and also the largest animal and plant conservation park in Saigon.
History of the Botanical Garden:
From the wild land, Saigon Zoo and Botanical Garden experienced many ups and downs, still exist for 157 years with many historical vestiges, and is one of the 10 oldest zoos in the world.
In 1864, the French government built the Zoo in Saigon and sent a veterinarian to expand 12 hectares of wasteland in the northeast of the Thi Nghe canal to make a place to raise animals and nurse plants. In March of the following year (1865) this place initially formed several barns.
At the end of 1865, the Zoo in Saigon was expanded to 20 hectares. By 1869, open to the public.
Since 1984, many new construction items have been built. By 2000, the area of animal cages had increased to 25,000 square meters

The zoo here is divided into many different areas such as carnivores, mammals, reptiles, herbivores, birds, small animals… At 3 pm every day, in the carnivorous area, there is also a presentation activity. Show wild hunting skills of animals such as lions, white Bengal tigers, and Indochinese tigers are very interesting.
