1. Overview:

Traveling to Ba Vang Pagoda is of great interest to many people today. Since March 9, 2014, the pagoda has been recognized by the Vietnam Record Organization as the mountain temple with the largest main hall in Vietnam.

2. Location:

Ba Vang Pagoda (also known as Bao Quang Tu) is located halfway up Thanh Dang mountain, Quang Trung ward, Uong Bi city, Quang Ninh province. The pagoda is located on a very beautiful location at an altitude of 340m, the front is a long river, the back is leaning against the mountain and the two sides are pine forests stretching green.

Traveling to Ba Vang Pagoda is to come to the sacred and mysterious Buddha land built in a location full of long river elements in front, high mountains behind, Thanh Long and Bach Ho on both sides. beautiful scenery captivates people.

3. History:

  • The pagoda was built in At Dau year 1706, under the reign of King Le Du Tong. Over time with the destruction of nature and war, Ba Vang Pagoda has become ruins. In 1988, the pagoda was embellished and restored with wood. In 1993, the pagoda was rebuilt. Most of the relics of the old temple are no longer there, only a stone incense tree, a spiritual stele of the Zen master and pillars supporting the footrest.
  • Over the years, the pagoda has been restored and embellished many times. In January 2011, to meet the needs of many monks and nuns, Buddhists and Buddhists to propagate Buddhism, Ba Vang Pagoda was once again started construction on a large scale, spacious and beautiful. Today, the pagoda has become one of the attractive tourist attractions in Quang Ninh that tourists must definitely visit.
  • The temple worships Buddha, Mother and Ong. In the temple, there are many wooden statues placed in different positions such as Quan Am Bodhisattva, Amitabha Buddha, Tam Bao, Tam The, Ong Thien, Ong Evil..

When traveling to Ba Vang Pagoda in Quang Ninh, you will see unique architectures such as:

– Amitabha Buddha statue: made of wood, it is known as the largest and most beautiful in the North of Vietnam.

– A series of superficial statues over 2m high: such as Tam The statue, Quan Am statue…

– The statue of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva is 10.8m high: located on a 2.8m high lotus, weighing up to 80 tons. The statue is made of monolithic granite and carved by skillful hands of Vietnamese artisans.

– Huge well, year-round never runs dry: associated with the legend, anyone who can drink a sip of water from this well will eliminate all diseases, and have long-lasting and perfect health to old age.

– Lau Chuong, Floor Drum: with extremely sophisticated and meticulous carvings. You can drop your soul into the pure and contemplative space at the sacred Buddha door.

5. Time to travel:

The most appropriate time to visit Ba Vang Pagoda in Quang Ninh is at the opening of the pagoda festival on the 8th day of the first lunar month and the Chrysanthemum Festival held on the 9th day of the 9th lunar month. This is the ancient Vietnamese New Year, called Trung Duong New Year or Chrysanthemum Festival.

6. How to get there?

If you choose to visit Ba Vang Pagoda, you do not have to worry about transportation. However, with self-sufficient visitors to Ba Vang Pagoda, you can choose the following means:

Public transport: all bus stations in Hanoi (Yen Nghia, Nuoc Ngam, My Dinh, Luong Yen…) have the Hanoi – Uong Bi route (about 100,000 VND/way). After arriving in Uong Bi city, you can travel by motorbike taxi or taxi to Ba Vang Pagoda (about 50,000 VND/way).

Personal vehicle: “Riding" by motorbike is a very interesting experience, the route Hanoi – Uong Bi is also quite simple. You can move in the direction of Chuong Duong bridge – Bac Ninh – Highway 18 to reach Uong Bi city. From here, you will easily find the way to Ba Vang Pagoda by using Google Map or asking the locals.

7. Entrance fee:

Adult ticket price for round trip cable car for two routes is 280,000 VND, round trip is 180,000 VND and one way is 100,000 VND.

For children, the fare for round trip cable car for 2 routes is 200,000 VND, 120,000 VND for round trip and 80,000 VND for one way.

Hanoi – Halong Bay (L/D)

  • 8.00 – 8.30: Pick up & transfer to Halong Bay, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and located in the East North of Viet Nam. Nguyen Trai, an illustrious Vietnamese Confucian scholar, praised it " rock wonder in the sky" in his poet.
  • 11.30: Check-in at Paradise Lounge – Tuan Chau Island
    Your first stop on arrival at Tuan Chau Island is the Paradise check-in lounge. You will have time to refresh yourself after the long drive from Hanoi.
  • 12:30: Embark on Paradise Sails
    After your transfer to Paradise Sails, you will be checked-in, then taken to the restaurant, where you will be briefed about your cruise while enjoying your welcome drink.
  • 13:00: Lunch in the restaurant

  • 14:30: Next, visit Tung Sau Pearl Farm or kayak*
    Your first excursion is a visit to Tung Sau Pearl Farm, an island in Halong Bay dedicated to growing pearls and practicing a handmade based on Vietnamese tradition. The area also an ideal destination for kayaking. If this excursion doesn’t take your fancy, stay on board and treat yourself to a stunning cocktail.
  • 16:00: Visit Ti Top Island
    This island itself is the name after Gherman Stepanovich Titov, who was a famous Russian cosmonaut. There is a statue dedicated to him on the island. The island was named Titop instead of Titov due to the translation to Vietnamese. Hike to the top of Ti Top Island for stunning panoramic views of the Bay. After your hike, go for a refreshing swim in Halong Bay’s emerald waters or sip from a coconut in the shade. Back the cruise. Day 02

Halong Discovery - Hanoi (B,L)

  • 06:30: Tai Chi on Sundeck
    Welcome your second day onboard Paradise Sails with a Tai Chi session on the sundeck as the sun rises. It is an internal Chinese martial art, its health benefits, and meditation.
  • 07:30: Visit Sung Sot Cave
    Your next stop is the magnificent Sung Sot Cave, where you will be surprised by the breathtaking panoramic view across the Bay once you exit the cave. This is the largest cave in Halong Bay, and the stalactites and stalagmites formed over millions of years have taken on fascinating shapes.
  • 08:30: Breakfast at the restaurant
    Back on board, you can opt for your breakfast to be served in the restaurant or your cabin. Paradise Sails will pass Thien Cung and Dau Go Caves and Fighting Cocks Islet before you settle your bill, check-out and return to Tuan Chau Island.
  • 10:30: Disembark at Tuan Chau Marina
    After disembarking from Paradise Sails, and for guests booked on the Paradise shuttle bus, you will be served a light lunch at Paradise Lounge before the drive back to Hanoi.
