Overview:
When coming to Da Nang, Hai Van Pass is one of the choices that many young people welcome. The road is precarious, with many bends, winding and hugging the mountainside, standing out among the majestic mountains. Standing on Hai Van Pass, looking out into the distance, one side is a towering mountain, and one side is a vast blue sea, all creating a magnificent natural picture that will surely overwhelm anyone who has the opportunity contemplation society.
Location:
Hai Van Pass stretches along the mountainside in the middle of the border between Thua Thien Hue province and Da Nang city. If starting from Da Nang, it will take about 40 minutes to reach the foot of the pass. The pass is located on the Bach Ma mountain range about 500m above sea level and is an admirable masterpiece that nature bestows.
History:
Hai Van Pass was formerly known as Ai Van Pass, then, the pass was renamed May Pass. According to recorded history, before 1306, Hai Van pass belonged to two continents O and Ri of the Champa Kingdom.
During the French colonial period, the French built a railway running the whole length of the Hai Van pass.
Now, the Hai Van pass tunnel has been completed to ensure convenience for North-South circulation. Although there is an Hai Van pass tunnel, many tourists still want to come here to visit and conquer the most dangerous road in Vietnam.
Places to visit in Hai Van Pass cannot be missed :
1. Hai Van Quan – The most majestic under the heavens
Standing on Hai Van Quan, under the cold of the ferry, you will admire the panoramic view of Hai Van pass with white clouds covered with mist, the winding road like a silk screen squeezing up hills and mountains with green carpets.
2. Lang Co Bay – Hue Lang Co Bay
is one of the most beautiful bays in Vietnam. After exploring the Hai Van Pass, you will descend the pass towards Hue. The bay has a peaceful poetic beauty with mountains running to the sea along with white sand beaches.
3. Xuan Thieu Beach
Here, you can see the beautiful Son Tra peninsula on one side, and the majestic Hai Van mountain on the other. You will feel the scent of the sea breeze caressing your skin along with the white sand.
4. Nam O Reef Beach
For backpackers, Nam O Reef is an extremely interesting place to explore and is perfect for taking great photos. If possible, take advantage of going to Nam O Reef in the early morning to catch the shimmering moment of the sunrise.
5. Van village
Van village is a small village located separately from Da Nang, right at the foot of Hai Van pass. You can bring food and camping gear to picnic with friends. Van village has many places for you to hold a barbecue or camp overnight.
