Good Walking Shoes (Trekking or Sports Shoes): The trails may be rough, slippery, or caused by mud, particularly when you are walking through rice paddy fields or trails in forests. Good non-slip, comfortable footwear is a must.
Light Clothing + A Light Jacket: Dress lightly during the day. Take a lightweight jacket or windbreaker with you; mornings and evenings in Pu Luong can be cool, particularly if you start your day early for a viewpoint photo stop or early morning walk during day 2 in Mai Chau.
Flashlight or headlamp: Handy if you’re walking back in the evenings or going to caves like Kho Muong Cave. The electricity in a few villages may not be reliable, so it’s best to have your own.
Reusable Water Bottle: You’ll be walking a lot. Take a bottle along to fill up during your journey, most homestays and restaurants offer fresh water. Keep yourself hydrated when walking from Mai Chau to Pu Luong!
Insect Repellent & First Aid Kit: You’ll be hiking through nature, and bugs enjoy it as well.
