Tu Le Market

Tu Le Market comes next, which is a local hub for selling and exchanging fresh produce that the people of this place own. This colorful and energetic market will hook you once you start walking through it. This is also a great place to try some of the region’s other specialties: Com Tu Le is a type of green rice that is picked during the early morning hours, which can retain a sweet, earthy flavor. Sample this local delicacy, as it often accompanies overripe bananas or is used in sticky rice and porridge dishes. The flavors overflow on the market, and being a must-destination for any foodie palate, here it is on this Bun Bo Hue Co Thom on a Mu Cang Chai Food Tour.

11:30 AM – Lunch at a Local Homestay

By this time, you must have worked up an appetite, so next is a traditional lunch at a local homestay. You will be served various dishes from the locality that best represent Mu Cang Chai cuisine. One of the many dishes serves five-color sticky rice, made from glutinous rice grown in this area and dyed with natural colors extracted from plants. You will also be allowed to try the most adventurous dish, aka the wild bee pupae, with its crunch and flavor as a delicacy in the region. Each dish is prepared with such love-fresh ingredients from directly in the mountains.

Cultural Etiquette

The highlights of the Bun Bo Hue Co Thom on a Mu Cang Chai Food Tour are to be affably enclosed in the local culture. A tour of ethnic villages, such as villages of the H’mong or Thai tribes, does call for sensitivity to their culture and customs.

  • Respect personal space: Always ask for permission to take photos of the locals, especially in more conservative villages.
  • Dress modestly: Even though the weather may be warm, it is best to wear clothes that cover your shoulders and knees out of respect for local customs.
  • Be polite and patient: A greeting like a smile goes a long way every month in interpersonal interactions, as does learning a few simple phrases in Vietnamese or even in the local dialect.

A big deal in Mu Cang Chai Tours has to do with cultural respect: consideration will enrich your experience.

What to Pack

Once you are taken on a Bun Bo Hue Co Thom on a Mu Cang Chai Tour, brace for an adventure that combines great food with outdoor exploration, and above all, calls for packing smart. Here’s what you will need:

Safety

Basic safety is one of the most important things in any undertaking of a Mu Cang Chai tour, especially in mountainous areas. Here are some key safety tips:

  • Stay hydrated: Always carry water with you, whether it is while walking through the villages or trekking through rice fields. Fresh mountain air along with physical rigorousness can easily dehydrate you; hence, drink up!
  • Sunscreen and a hat: The sun can sometimes get quite strong, even up in the mountains. Slather on plenty of sunscreen and wear a hat to protect yourself against the ultraviolet rays.
  • Prepare for the mountain climate: Mu Cang Chai normally contains unpredictable weather. Though days are always warm, nights are cold. Bring a light jacket or fleece to put on whenever the sun is lower than your line of sight.
