What follows is a discovery of the beauty present in Tram Forest. You will be taken on a brutal trek through this forest one of mystery and documented in the music video “Bánh Trôi Nước" by Hoàng Thùy Linh, where you’ll witness a landscape rich with towering Tram trees and abundant biodiversity tumbling as far as the eyes can see. 17:00 – Bird Island Tour by Sampan
In the afternoon, as the day gently slips into the evening, we will have the peace of taking a sampan cruise right through the small inlets deep into the center of the Tram Forest, which is home to Bird Island (Đảo Chim). This peaceful getaway for various birds has them returning at sunset, making a scenic beauty that features the full look of the flying creatures, mainly birds, back into their nests. With the dimming of the light slipping against a background of rich green vegetation, this specific scenario with the birds coming into boat view culminates a very empowering sensation of being amidst such beauty.
18:00 – Dinner
Another local meal comprised of local specialties will bring the whole day of the tour to a beautiful end, speaking through the length and breadth of Dong Thap Muoi cuisine. 08:00 – Primary Tram Forest Exploration by Motorized Boat
Take a traditional Tắc Ráng motorized boat and glide through the untouched virgin of Tram Forest. With green canals, subtle greenery, and vibrant water lilies that set up a sort of countryside painting, their idyllic surroundings mirror the serene aquatic life. The landscape is dotted with graceful birds that dip and dive among the fish darting and weaving in the water–this sight is peaceful, yet exhilarating.
Visit the Bang Grassland: It is the huge Bang Grassland expanding over 100 ha, that has become a favorite destination invested in brand strategy through the movie “Cánh đồng bất tận" directed by Nguyễn Ngọc Tư. Bang Grassland
Herb Garden Visit: local herb garden – visit the local herb garden where ancient knowledge of traditional medicine is merged with modern protection. This gene-saving area treats many rare and medicinal plants, unique to Dong Thap Muoi. You will enjoy listening to and watching this centerpiece in full bloom, where the fragrance is both overwhelming and energizing. And end with a sampling of a stretch of the countryside George just described: cassava cooked in coconut milk and fragrant lotus leaf tea. Both are produced with products harvested in this local herb garden.
Tram Processing Plant: Now, ladies and gentlemen, our next station is the Tram Processing Plant, where you can see how to make natural pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and functional food out of the Tram tree. Time permitting, we will also visit the Thien Vien Chanh Giac Truc Lam, one of the largest Zen monasteries in Vietnam. This impressive temple complex is structured according to the traditional Trúc Lâm Yên Tử Zen sect and is home to exact copies of the four sacred sites of Buddhism, as they appear in India and Nepal. It would be a really restful and spiritual way to finish our journey.
18:00 – Return to Ho Chi Minh City

While Dong Thap Muoi can be visited at any time of year, the dry season, from December through April, is the most favorable time. The weather during the dry season is enjoyable and good for outdoor activities, especially when the lotus fields are in full bloom. However, for bird watchers, the period between September and November is ideal, since thousands of species gather in all shapes along Bird Island to present a thrilling picture at sunset.
Pack smart and you will ensure yourself a comfortable trip. Wear lightweight, breathable clothes that withstand warmth, and remember to pack some solutions or gels against insect bites. Properly pick nice and comfortable shoes to walk around in and sun protection tools—like sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses are necessary in this scorching sun.
