Planning a visit to Ho Thi Ky Flower Market? Here are some insider tips that will make it an enhanced Ho Chi Minh City Morning Tour or Ho Chi Minh night tour!
Ho Chi Minh City Morning Tours: The Best Times to Visit
Timing is everything for the most pleasurable experience. For those on a Ho Chi Minh City Morning Tour, the early hours of the morning to 6 a.m.- is generally the best time. You see flowers at their freshest-just arrived-and the market bustles with life. Crowds pick up later in the morning, so arrive early for a relaxing experience. Meanwhile, the shoppers are crowded at big holidays like Tet, so it is better to avoid those times. A night visit is also nice if one wants a slightly more subdued atmosphere, though the market is less busy.
Photography Tips
Ho Thi Ky is a photographer’s haven; every turn greets colorful displays and vibrant scenes. Try to capture the morning soft light of the market stands or capture the colors in the evening on a Ho Chi Minh night tour. Don’t forget to ask the vendor if you may shoot close-ups of their flowers; most of them are quite friendly and sometimes even suggest good angles for your photos! Pro tip: You should have wide-angle shots here to nail those buzzing aisles and flower displays.
Tips for Flower Shopping During Ho Chi Minh City Morning Tours
When buying flowers, make sure that stems are firm, with fresh, lively petals and leaves on. This will grant them a longer lifetime. Haggling for prices is very common in this market; you can especially ask for a better price if you’re buying in bulk. The vendors are used to bargaining, so they usually agree to adjust the prices, which makes it one of the realistic parts of the Ho Chi Minh City Morning Tour.
Conclusion
Ho Thi Ky is the perfect way to round off any Ho Chi Minh City Morning Tour, with its effervescent colors and fresh scents. Taking in this market isn’t surely an experience that is to be surpassed. Everything from early morning flower selections to delightful street food makes this place a must on the list for one who aims for a slice of authenticity in Ho Chi Minh City. HO CHI MINH CITY TOUR AND CU CHI TUNNELS
Your guide and driver will pick you up at your hotel. We will visit the following places of interest:
The Reunification Palace: Here on April 30th, 1975 the Vietnam War officially ended when tank number 843 of the North Vietnamese Army crashed through the gates of what was, at the time the residence of the President of the Republic of Vietnam.
War Remnants Museum: Formerly known as the Museum of American War Crimes, this is a poignant display of the futility of war. Some of the black and white photography in the ‘Requiem’ exhibit is particularly touching, dedicated to both foreign and Vietnamese journalists and photographers who perished during the conflict. The courtyard outside contains the spoils of war, namely rusting jets, tanks and cannons captured from the American military machine.
Notre Dame Cathedral and Old Post Office: Built between 1877 and 1883 this is one of the best examples of classical French colonial architecture. Remarkably every stone used in its creation was shipped from France to Vietnam. Her two 40m towers, topped with iron spires dominate the city’s skyline. The Old Post Office is another example of French colonial architecture and is also the country’s largest post office.
Jade Emperor Pagoda: Building in 1909 in honor of the supreme Taoist god, this is one of the most spectacularly atmospheric temples in HCMC, stuffed with statues of phantasmal divinities and grotesque heroes. The pungent smoke of incense fills the air, obscuring the exquisite woodcarvings.
Cu Chi Tunnels: Watch a short introductory video showing how they were constructed, then spend the next hour exploring the maze of tunnels. Also, on display are various mantraps, the remains of an American tank and numerous bomb craters made by 500 pound bombs dropped by B52 bombers. For those interested there’s even the opportunity to fire off rounds from an AK47 or MK16 at the nearby rifle range
