Key Attractions in Ho Chi Minh City
First, you will visit some highlights, including: Before heading to the Cu Chi Tunnels, you will see some of the iconic sights in Ho Chi Minh City.
Independence Palace: Many call the Reunification Palace by this name of this historic building, and it practically symbolizes the fall of Saigon and later the end of the war in Vietnam. It was designed by Ngo Viet Thu instead of the old Norodom. You will learn all about the pivotal role the place played in Vietnamese history.
The Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica of Saigon represents a fine example of French colonial architecture. Built between the years 1863 and 1880, it features a quite unique type of structure wholly made with materials imported from France.
Central Post Office: Located at the heart of the city, it is another old architectural wonder that is still in active use, with its origin dating back to the French colonization period. Beautiful vaulted ceilings and variously designed floors add more charm; it is designed by Gustave Eiffel, the legendary architect of the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
War Remnants Museum: Through pictured exhibits, artifacts, and military equipment, this museum will bring very realistic depictions of the devastations that the Vietnamese War had on the country and the citizenry.
Exploration of Cu Chi Tunnels
Those who arrive at the Cu Chi Tunnels are treated to an introductory video about the construction of this tunnel network and the tough lives led by its inhabitants, the background to your adventure.
On a visit to the tunnel network, you will tour places where you will have a first-hand view of the quarters, kitchens, storage houses, arming factories, field hospitals, and headquarters command. There, narrow tunnels, just enough for a person to crawl through, show the Vietnamese people and their will in time of war.
Further down the trip, there are historical reenactments and displays telling partly how the inhabitants in these tunnels lived and their ingenuity in finding ways to get through hardships and fight back.
Unique Experiences
Make your Cu Chi Tunnels experience even better with these inclusions that will make the most of your time at this historical site:
Tea and Cassava Tasting: Give a minute to share a traditional snack, including cassava, staple food for this city-based guerrilla group. It can be simple, but the act itself means a lot.
AK47 Shooting Range Experience: For those who wish to seek a bit of an adrenaline rush then experience the well-equipped in-house shooting range with an AK47. Very optional as per your own wish. This optional activity will certainly give you a glimpse into how it might have been during the historical context of the tunnels.

Souvenirs from Cu Chi Tunnels Tour
Cu Chi Tunnels
Well, this being our final leg of the Cu Chi Tunnels Tour, let me share with you some fantastic souvenir options that you may take back home in memory of this undeniable journey. Yes, it is not just history; the Cu Chi Tunnels offer creative souvenir shopping, retaining vestiges of the place.
First of all, there are things made from casings. Such souvenirs can speak to the ingenuity of Vietnamese people. You can get lighters, key chains, and even pen holders, all well-made and skillfully produced from used bullet hulls. Again, all these things are interesting not just in their form but also due to their historical outlook.
Next, do not miss the handmade souvenirs: scale models of tanks, military vehicles, and helicopters. The artisans have made them down to the last detail using several types of media. These would surely be very nice display pieces all together. Perfect for history buffs and fine art lovers alike.
For those that like a taste of tradition, then black pajamas and scarves are what to buy. Most times, the black pajamas are referred to as the Viet Cong outfit and form some kind of symbolic expression for resilience and determination in the struggle amongst Vietnamese fighters. Scarves can be used in wearing or even as items for decoration; whichever way, making great souvenirs with their use

War Remnants Museum: Formerly known as the Museum of American War Crimes, this is a poignant display of the futility of war. Some of the black and white photography in the ‘Requiem’ exhibit is particularly touching, dedicated to both foreign and Vietnamese journalists and photographers who perished during the conflict. The courtyard outside contains the spoils of war, namely rusting jets, tanks and cannons captured from the American military machine.
Notre Dame Cathedral and Old Post Office: Built between 1877 and 1883 this is one of the best examples of classical French colonial architecture. Remarkably every stone used in its creation was shipped from France to Vietnam. Her two 40m towers, topped with iron spires dominate the city’s skyline. The Old Post Office is another example of French colonial architecture and is also the country’s largest post office.
Jade Emperor Pagoda: Building in 1909 in honor of the supreme Taoist god, this is one of the most spectacularly atmospheric temples in HCMC, stuffed with statues of phantasmal divinities and grotesque heroes. The pungent smoke of incense fills the air, obscuring the exquisite woodcarvings.
Cu Chi Tunnels: Watch a short introductory video showing how they were constructed, then spend the next hour exploring the maze of tunnels. Also, on display are various mantraps, the remains of an American tank and numerous bomb craters made by 500 pound bombs dropped by B52 bombers. For those interested there’s even the opportunity to fire off rounds from an AK47 or MK16 at the nearby rifle range
