Be sharp at 6:00 AM to start our day, as we leave the bustle behind: Ho Chi Minh City, heading towards all the tranquility of the Mekong Delta. As you go along the HCM – Trung Luong Expressway, sit back and enjoy all the insightful commentary about the landmarks that we shall pass while going through Go Den, Ben Luc, Tan An, known for their local specialties like Go Den wine and Ben Luc pineapples
07:30 AM: Breakfast Stop
At about 7:30, we will have a filling breakfast. You will get the opportunity to try local specialties such as My Tho noodle soup, banh canh, and pho. He gestured toward his dish in front of him saying this is going to give you energy throughout today’s day
09:00 AM: Arrival at Tan Quy Dong Flower Village
At 9:00 a.m., we will arrive at Tan Quy Dong Flower Village. Be charmed by the bright color and sweet fragrance of flowers. The floristic village stretches over 400 hectares, with over 2,000 households planting banyak varieties of ornamental plants. It’s a wonderful place for photographers, so don’t forget to bring your camera
10:00 AM: Visit Rose Field in SA Dec

Next, at 10 a.m., we visit the magnificent Rose Field in Sa Dec. This is the vast field carpeted with roses of all imaginable colors, like a beautiful scene in a movie. Yet, strolling along rose fields while inhaling a sweet fragrance and taking breathtaking pictures of this floral heaven forms part of what you can do around.
11:00 AM: Flying Snakehead Fish Show
Now, the highlight of the tour: is the Flying Snakehead Fish Show! It’s a unique, most exciting performance, featuring local snakehead fish’s acrobatics and training. You will be very amazed to see that such fish, able to jump out from the water, will gather food mid-air into their mouths. This eloquent performance finds months of rigorous local training performed on the fish. Otherwise, it is utterly an extremely unique experience you would not find anywhere else!

After the show of the colorful fish, we will then proceed to a local restaurant for lunch at noon with many delicious dishes of local specialties of the Mekong Delta.
01:30 PM: Visit Lai Vung Mandarin Garden
We continue our journey to Lai Vung Mandarin Garden; the so-called Kingdom of Mandarins. Stroll within this 2,000-hectare expansive garden yielding over 40,000 tons of mandarins annually and taste fresh, juicy mandarin right from the tree for a refreshing treat and the quintessential experience of the Mekong Delta.
02:30 PM: Visit Phuoc Kien Pagoda
Next, at 2:30 PM, we visit Phuoc Kien Pagoda: a serene pagoda famous for its gigantic lotus leaves. According to a local myth, it is said that these gigantic leaves can hold the weight of a person. A few minutes of chilling out, sitting in meditation, or taking pictures while standing on a giant leaf will indeed create magic.

03:30 PM: Departure Back to Ho Chi Minh City with a Stop for Local Specialties
3:30 PM head back down toward Ho Chi Minh City. On the way, stop at local markets to purchase some of Mekong Delta’s famous products like Lai Vung fermented pork rolls, Sa Giang shrimp crackers, and fresh mandarins
06:00 PM: Arrival in Ho Chi Minh City
By 6:00 PM, we will be back in Ho Chi Minh City. Your guide will then bid you farewell, and we look forward to joining you for another exciting journey

The Mekong River, the ‘Mother of Waters’, is the heart and soul of mainland South-East Asia. Millions of people depend on its waters. It’s a way of life, a home for the spirits, the defining element in the everlasting battle for survival, and the foundation and boundaries of cultures and kingdoms across eons. The river speaks of the past and the future, of the eternally recurring cycles of nature, of the people living upstream and downstream, of survival, beauty and danger.
Foreigners can’t appreciate the role of the river in the lives of those who live in the Mekong basin. It influences every aspect of their daily existence, shaping not only the land, but also the people themselves.
The Mekong Basin extends over 795,000km2. More than 70 million people, 55 million of which inhabit the watershed area lying within Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Viet Nam, depend on the river and its tributaries for food, water and transport. At 4,350km, the Mekong is the longest river in Southeast Asia and the 12th longest in the world.
The river runs from its source deep in China’s Tsinghai Province through the eastern part of Tibet. From Yunnan province, it becomes the border between Myanmar and Laos, and between Laos and Thailand. From there it surges across Cambodia to Phnom Penh, where the Bassac River branches off. The two rivers continue to divide into nine outlets, the Cuu Long (Nine Dragons) of Vietnam’s Mekong Delta, and finally discharge into the East Sea. The river is navigable from the delta to Southern Laos, where massive waterfalls near the Cambodian border prevent boats from travelling further.
About nine-tenths of the people in the Lower Mekong Basin are engaged in agriculture, mostly rice production on a massive scale, for which irrigation from the Mekong River is essential. A substantial proportion is exported, thus providing the staple diet of a far greater number than just those living in the area.
The Mekong River is also very rich in fish, the single most important source of animal protein in the diet of people living in the Lower Mekong Basin.
