This shooting location is great when trying to play with light and the ascent of the morning sun bathes it in golden hues.
9:00 AM – Saigon WaterBus Ride
The next stop will be a Saigon WaterBus a special way to view the city from the water. This pictorial ride across the Saigon River provides another angle of the Ho Chi Minh City skyline. You can snap panoramic Landmark 81 from here and notice how this masterpiece of modernity comes out in contrast with the natural beauty of the river and the greenery on the banks. While making smooth glides along the river on the WaterBus, you will be able to shoot some key landmarks of the city, such as the Saigon Bridge and Thu Thiem Bridge, which are perfect for wide shots of the city blending with nature.

You can take the time for rest, reviewing your shots in the morning, and if you are a foodie photographer, shoot your food photos. 1:30 PM – Arrive at Landmark 81
Now it’s about time to get ready for the main highlight of the Photography Tour at Landmark 81: the iconic skyscraper itself. Arriving at Landmark 81, the pure size and sleek, modern design will leave you in awe. This part of the tour involves exploring both the interior and exterior of this building to shoot this architectural masterpiece from multiple perspectives.
1:45 PM – Outdoor Photography at Landmark 81
First, we begin with views around the Landmark 81 building, where one can use the glass panels of the building to give a beautiful reflection of the sky, clouds, and structures that are nearby. The modernity of the skyscraper against the juxtaposition of natural elements provides an ideal site for creative photography. Do not be left behind in taking wide shots of the tower from the Vinhomes Central Park, where there is a contrast between the height of the building to the green gardens.
2:30 PM – Skyview at 461 Meters
And now, the most exciting part of the tour is the view from the 81st floor. One can see the whole skyline of Ho Chi Minh City from a height of 461 meters. This is a great spot for pictures-from cityscapes to breathtaking views of the river. As you move around on the Skydeck, feel free to experiment with angles and focal lengths to shoot the sprawled urban landscape below.
This is just a perfect place for wide shots, as you will be able to see almost the whole city to a horizon. And for your close-up shooting lovers, the architecture of the observation deck, including its gleaming materials used in construction, is rather interesting for shooting, too. The city from this height completely looks different, and how can at least one shot from here not be impressive?
3:15 PM – Explore Vinhomes Central Park
Going down from Skydeck, a visit to Vinhomes Central Park is in order-an urban park inspired by New York’s Central Park. This beautifully landscaped space is ideal for capturing the interplay of city and nature. You can shoot tranquil lakes, walking paths, and green spaces in closer proximity to the majestic landmark in the background Landmark 81.
This is a great chance to capture some unique views, including the setting of nature with water features and modern skyscrapers within one shot. Another very good vantage point within the park is its pedestrian bridge-camera views of Landmark 81 from a distance with the reflection of the river and the stunning architecture of the building.

Photography Tour at Landmark 81: Unique Tips and Insights
Best Angles and Locations to Capture Landmark 81
Photographing the Landmark 81 building is all about positioning. You will get one of the better angles with this sleek-lined building contrasting against the green lawns of Vinhomes Central Park. The park offers open spaces to shoot this tower with the Saigon River in the foreground, creating dramatic reflections and showing the size and scale of the building.
For something a bit more city-like, shoot the tower from below right at the base. You can emphasize height and grace from this point while having fun with glass façade reflections. If you are going to take city views, then the Skydeck on the 81st floor offers a matchless panoramic view of Ho Chi Minh City.
Best Times for a Photography Tour at Landmark 81
In the Photography Tour at Landmark 81, timing is everything. The golden hour right after daybreak and prior to sunset provides an ideal, soft, and warm tone in the glass and steel architecture of the building. You get to shoot early morning captures with the city waking up. Crowds are few in the early morning, and all around the park is very peaceful.
For those who love dramatic and colorful shots, this is it. At sunset, as the sun sets over Ho Chi Minh City, some light reflects off the glass of the building-wide for shots. Night Photography When Landmark 81 illuminates the night sky, night photography enthusiasts will surely go into a frenzy while clicking snapshots. Long-exposure shots are spectacular since the building lights along with the surrounding city lights provide great captures.
Mastering Lighting, Reflections, and Composition
For the quality and effect that reflective glass adds, look for times when Landmark 81’s façade reflects the sky, cloud formation, or even nearby buildings. This makes any shot a little deeper and adds much dynamism to it. Once the river is pretty still, shoot the reflection of the Landmark 81 on it for an extended element to your photo.
Composition leading lines, pathways, and bridges around the park will lead your viewer’s eyes toward the tower. Shot framing uses elements like trees or buildings in the foreground for depth, and then of course comes experimenting with different focal lengths for the full capture of range on the tower.
Equipment Suggestions for the Tour
But for this tour, you are absolutely in need of a wide-angle lens to show the beauty of Landmark 81 and its surroundings. A lens between 16-35mm will let you capture more of the skyline and river in your shots. For capturing details of the building or even glass reflections, a zoom lens of 70-200mm is usable for focusing on specific details.
A tripod is highly advisable, at least if you want to shoot during the golden hour or night. It will help stabilize your camera while shooting with long exposure so that even in low-light conditions, none of your shots would appear soft and noisy. Do not forget a polarizing filter-it is good for diminishing glare and bringing out the color of the sky when it shoots against the glass.
Framing the Essence of Modern Ho Chi Minh City
Photography Tour at Landmark 81: It’s not about shooting a building; it’s about Ho Chi Minh City turning into a modern metropolis. Use framing techniques that show the rapid development of the city, contrasting nature with the design of a metropolis. When shooting the tower from Vinhomes Central Park or the Skydeck, always look for ways to tell a story about the city’s dynamic growth through your photos.

Day 02
HO CHI MINH CITY TOUR AND CU CHI TUNNELS
Your guide and driver will pick you up at your hotel. We will visit the following places of interest:
The Reunification Palace: Here on April 30th, 1975 the Vietnam War officially ended when tank number 843 of the North Vietnamese Army crashed through the gates of what was, at the time the residence of the President of the Republic of Vietnam.
War Remnants Museum: Formerly known as the Museum of American War Crimes, this is a poignant display of the futility of war. Some of the black and white photography in the ‘Requiem’ exhibit is particularly touching, dedicated to both foreign and Vietnamese journalists and photographers who perished during the conflict. The courtyard outside contains the spoils of war, namely rusting jets, tanks and cannons captured from the American military machine.
Notre Dame Cathedral and Old Post Office: Built between 1877 and 1883 this is one of the best examples of classical French colonial architecture. Remarkably every stone used in its creation was shipped from France to Vietnam. Her two 40m towers, topped with iron spires dominate the city’s skyline. The Old Post Office is another example of French colonial architecture and is also the country’s largest post office.
Jade Emperor Pagoda: Building in 1909 in honor of the supreme Taoist god, this is one of the most spectacularly atmospheric temples in HCMC, stuffed with statues of phantasmal divinities and grotesque heroes. The pungent smoke of incense fills the air, obscuring the exquisite woodcarvings.
Cu Chi Tunnels: Watch a short introductory video showing how they were constructed, then spend the next hour exploring the maze of tunnels. Also, on display are various mantraps, the remains of an American tank and numerous bomb craters made by 500 pound bombs dropped by B52 bombers. For those interested there’s even the opportunity to fire off rounds from an AK47 or MK16 at the nearby rifle range
