History: The current area of Canh Nang town was formerly two communes of Lam Xa and Tan Lap in Ba Thuoc district.
On August 23, 1994, the Government issued Decree No. 92-CP. Accordingly, Canh Nang town was established on the basis of separating part of the natural area and population of Lam Xa commune.
By 2018, Canh Nang town has an area of 0.83 km², a population of 3,437 people, a population density of 4,141 people/km². Lam Xa commune has an area of 11.16 km², a population of 3,647 people, a population density of 327 people/km². Tan Lap commune has an area of 13.23 km², a population of 2,586 people, a population density of 190 people/km².
On October 16, 2019, the National Assembly Standing Committee issued Resolution No. 786/NQ-UBTVQH14 on the arrangement of commune-level administrative units in Thanh Hoa province (the resolution took effect from December 1, 2019. 2019). Accordingly, merging the entire area and population of Lam Xa and Tan Lap communes into Canh Nang town
Way to go there: Canh Nang town is located along National Highway 217, quite close to the point connecting National Highway 217 with National Highway 15C.

AM: Good morning Hanoi, then our team will come to your hotel in Hanoi then pick you up to escape from Hanoi. It takes 3.5-hour driving on the winding way to reach up Pom Coong village, Mai Chau. We have a short break for tea-break on the way to Mai Chau where is one of the largest and fertile valleys in the hill and mountain land of North-West Vietnam.
Greeting the host – Thai People family then enjoy lunch by local cuisine in the Thai Ethnic’s food cuisine.
PM: After lunch, we have a short time to relax and drink green Vietnamese tea before we are getting started cycling to discover the beauty of Pom Coong Thai Ethnic Village. Our tour guide brings you to see farmers working in fields, locals weaving scarves, and visit surrounding peaceful villages.
The 17.30: You are free time for cycling, walking, shopping in the village center (it is so unique for taking photographs at the yellow rice harvest coming in the late afternoon with the sunset)
In the evening: 18:300. Enjoy Dinner – Vietnamese cuisine in the Thai Ethnic Style, you try to drink rice or corn wine, talk with local Thai host.

AM: Good morning Mai Chai, then enjoy the breakfast before saying goodbye to the friendly host in Pom Coong village, then transfer to Tan Phu by car (25km).
Arrive in Tan Phu where we start the trekking point to Ban Hang village where the home of Muong & Thai people base in, keep on the buffalo trail along with the stream trekking to Kho Muong village (13 km – 4.5-hours trekking). The trekking experience via the rice fields, rice terraces, rivers, and streams, today we have a picnic lunch on the trekking way.
PM: After lunch, we continue trekking to Muong Village, where we stay overnight at the house on the stilt of Muong Ethnic People.
In the evening: Enjoy dinner with Muong’s family.

AM: Good morning Muong village, then enjoy local breakfast, morning tea, and coffee. Say goodbye to the host then trekking for 3.5 hours to Pho Doan village where the main road to meet the car, that picks up you for transferring to Canh Nang Town. On the trekking way, this is a chance to admire the natural scenery of rice fields, rivers, and streams with water-wheels, the local people work or feed the water buffalo in the hill tribe lands that belong to Thai & Muong hill tribes. We arrive in Pho Doan where the small hill tribe town is where to meet the driver and car, we get in the car then transfer to Canh Nang Town for lunch at a local restaurant.
PM: After lunch, we transfer to Cam Thuy Fish Stream River or Ho Ancient Citadel, then return via Ho Chi Minh Trail (160km) to Hanoi.
