Day 1: Hanoi – Thung Khe Pass – Pu Luong Nature Reserve

Your private guide and driver will collect you from your hotel in Hanoi at approximately 8:00 AM. Leaving the city behind and travel through the scenic countryside towards Pu Luong Nature Reserve in Thanh Hoa Province.

The journey takes you through picturesque mountain landscapes and traditional Muong communities. Stop at Thung Khe Pass, one of the most impressive viewpoints in the region, to admire panoramic views over Mai Chau Valley. From here, you continue traveling through green mountains, rice fields and White Thai villages before arriving at your accommodation in Pu Luong.

After checking in, you will enjoy a locally prepared lunch and take some time to relax amid the peaceful mountain surroundings.

In the afternoon, you are transfered to the Chieng Lau area and begin a gentle introductory walk through rice fields and traditional villages. Following quiet rural paths to the Cham River, where you will see the remarkable bamboo water wheels used by local communities to carry water into nearby fields.

Next, you will learn about this ingenious irrigation system before joining a leisurely bamboo rafting experience along a calm section of the river. Surrounded by forests, terraces and mountains, the rafting trip offers a relaxing introduction to Pu Luong’s natural beauty.

Day 2: Kho Muong Village – Bamboo Forest – Uoi and Lan Ngoai Villages

Starting the day with breakfast at your accommodation while enjoying the fresh mountain air and peaceful valley views.

You will meet our guide and transfer to the starting point of today’s trek. The full-day adventure leads deep into Pu Luong Nature Reserve, following small trails through rice terraces, forested hills and limestone valleys.

Descend towards Kho Muong Village, one of the reserve’s most remote and picturesque Thai ethnic communities. Surrounded by dramatic limestone mountains and terraced fields, the village is known for its traditional stilt houses and tranquil rural atmosphere.

Then, you will walk through the village and meet local residents to gain an insight into their farming traditions, customs and daily life. Depending on weather and trail conditions, there may also be an opportunity to explore the area surrounding Kho Muong Cave.

Next, you will have a local lunch will be served at a village homestay.

In the afternoon, you continue trekking through bamboo forest, manioc fields and farmland towards Uoi Village. The trail offers constantly changing views of terraces, streams and mountain slopes. Proceed to Lan Ngoai Village, another beautiful Thai community where traditional architecture and agricultural practices remain an important part of everyday life.

Meeting your vehicle at the end of the trail and return to your accommodation. Relaxing before enjoying dinner and another peaceful night in the mountains.

Day 3: Pu Luong Village Trek – Return to Hanoi

Enjoy breakfast at your accommodation before checking out and beginning your final trekking experience in Pu Luong.

Following small paths down into a beautiful terraced valley and walk through a series of peaceful rural communities. Depending on local conditions and your selected route, the trek may pass through the villages of Leo, Mo, Chu and Danh.

Next, going along the way, you will admire a diverse landscape of rice terraces, ponds, streams, farmland and forest-covered mountains. Observe farmers working in the fields and enjoy opportunities to photograph traditional stilt houses and everyday village life.

The morning route is less demanding than the previous day, allowing you to appreciate the reserve’s scenery at a comfortable pace. After completing the trek, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.

In the early afternoon, meet your driver and begin the return journey to Hanoi. Subject to the preferred schedule, an optional stop may be arranged at the Cam Luong Sacred Fish Stream, a culturally significant attraction associated with fascinating local legends.
