Vietnam History Museum Ho Chi Minh City

Overview:

If you are a history buff and want to learn about a time of heroic struggle and preservation of our country, the history museums in Saigon will be the destinations that you should not miss.

Coming to these museums, you will be able to relive the historical years of the Vietnamese nation through the periods, helping you to appreciate the independence of the Fatherland more.

History:

The Ho Chi Minh City History Museum was built in 1929, originally named Blanchard de la Brosse after the Governor of Cochinchina at that time.

This is the first museum in Saigon and the whole of South Vietnam. In 1954, when the French withdrew, the work changed its name to the National Museum and got its current name after 1975.In addition,

Structure:

The museum campus is 6,000 square meters, with the main face facing the Zoo and Botanical Garden, opposite the Hung King memorial temple.

The work was designed and built by French architect Delaval in a style that combines European and indigenous architecture, exploiting traditional elements and local climate characteristics. This style flourished in Vietnam during the period 1920-to 1945.

In addition, in 1970, the museum was built with a U-shaped row of houses behind it, in the middle is a small lake. The row of additional houses has decorative dragon heads at the roof corners, in harmony with the original architecture of the building.

What’s in Vietnam History Museum?

This is one of the large-scale museums in the South with more than 40,000 artifacts originating from many countries and ethnic groups.
The museum’s display system consists of two main parts. The first part displays artifacts of Vietnamese history from prehistory to the end of the Nguyen Dynasty. The rest is about the culture of southern Vietnam and some Asian countries.

I booked with Impress Travel in July. My contact person was Tommy Thang. He is an amazing person. He was very helpful. He changed my program twice for me. Very accommodating!
We started our holiday in the north (Sapa)of Vietnam and travelled down to HCMC.
The tour was fantastic, Tommy's arrangements were to the"T".
I will always use them if I have to visit the area again and recommend them to one and all.
Thank you once again Mr.Tommy and the Impress Team.
