Video - Lung Cu Flag Tower, Ha Giang, Vietnam

Located at the highest point of the “Northernmost tip," Lung Cu Flagpole National Historic Site – a sacred symbol of Vietnam's sovereignty, belongs to Lung Cu Commune, Dong Van District, Ha Giang Province.

For every Vietnamese citizen, it is a dream to reach the northernmost point of the country and touch the 54m2 wide national flag symbolizing the 54 ethnic groups on this S-shaped strip of land, honored and proud…

Lung Cu flagpole - attractive tourist destination

Lung Cu flag tower - attractive tourist destination

During the jubilant days of the whole country to celebrate the 77th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, September 2, we went to Ha Giang and visited Lung Cu Flagpole – the northernmost point. of the Fatherland.

From Ha Giang city through nearly 200km of mountain roads with dizzying bends, we came to Lung Cu commune, Dong Van district, where the Lung Cu Flagpole National Historic Site is located.

Looking back from afar, Lung Cu Flagpole stands on top of Dragon Mountain, the red flag with yellow star flutters proudly in the wind.

As both a historical relic and a sacred northernmost point of the country, over the years, Lung Cu Flagpole has always been a favorite destination of thousands of tourists from near and far.

Legendary flag tower & story about magical land:

Legendary flag tower & story about magical land:

It can be said that in Lung Cu, termites of land, mountains, lakes, caves, etc., all things related to geological heritage have been named and explained by the people in their formation. very interesting through the legends. With a very primitive, clear concept, considering “all things animate", meaning that everything has a soul, the indigenous inhabitants have put on this land mysterious veils through stories. fascinating legend.

Indigenous people still call the land of Lung Cu Cun Ta (Cun means mountain, Ta means equal). Looking down from above, the flat Then Pa field is about 50 hectares wide, surrounded by mountains with majestic cuesta (single inclined) terrain. Dragon Mountain is also known as Com Pi mountain (horse shoulder mountain in Lo Lo language) because if you look up from Lo Lo Chai village, Com Pi mountain looks exactly like the head of a horse rising up against the blue sky. and above is a red flag with a yellow star fluttering. At the foot of Dragon Mountain, or Mount Compi, are two lakes, which in the Lo Lo language language Co Ta (Cô means lake, ta means water) related to the legend of the sacred dragons that allow magical transformations.

The story of the formation of Dragon Mountain and 2 lakes has been told as follows: Once upon a time, a long time ago, a dragon flew down from the sky.

perched on a high mountain at the top of Lo Lo village. The dragon watched and saw that despite the majestic mountain scenery here, the lives of the people were extremely miserable due to the lack of water for daily life and production. Moved with compassion, before flying to the sky, the dragon left precious eyes for the villagers. From the eyes of the dragon, it turned into two clear blue lakes that never dry up all year round. One lake belongs to Lo Lo village, the other belongs to Then Van village. The mountain where the dragon used to sit is now called Dragon Mountain, where the Lung Cu flagpole is located.

The Lo Lo people here still believe that in the lake of Lo Lo village there is a pair of sacred dragons with transformation magic. Whenever it rains and the water rises, a pair of dragons that transform into white buffaloes appear to play by the lake. The old people often tell the children the story of the two dragons and tell them not to play by the lake or else they will be captured by the dragon and will get sick and have to do a thanksgiving ceremony. The offering can be 4 chickens or a pig that is brought out to offer at the lake shore… In the dry season, when the water in the lake recedes, the dragons hide themselves deep in the mountain. The people here believe that in the heart of the mountain where the dragon lives is a vast ocean containing water. Previously, there was only one lake in Lo Lo Chai village in the west, no lake in the east of Then Van village. About 20 years ago, suddenly another lake appeared in the East and the villagers thought that the dragon had moved there.

From the legends just mentioned above and there are even many other legends, we all realize that there are always two familiar images: Dragon and WATER. This reflects the basic perceptions of local people about the formation of the area's topography. Dragon's eyes are ancient karst funnels formed by the movement of the earth and sealed by clay – the product of limestone weathering. The later appearance of the eastern lake proved that before the clay products were not thick enough to seal the lake bottom, so the water was still permeable, then when the clay layer was thick enough to form an insulating layer, The lake appeared. As for “the vast seas of water" “the abode of dragons in the mountains" are understood as karst aquifers in limestone caves. Thus, it can be said that since ancient times, the people here have a very subtle knowledge of karst geology and hydrology that even many of us may not know yet.

So glad I found Impress Travel

At first, I was just planning a trip to Hanoi, Halong Bay, and Ninh Binh for my small family.
Some close friends heard about our plans and wanted to join the trip. Eventually the group grew to be 7 families, with 25 adults and children of varying interests and expectations.
While I was excited at the prospect of touring Vietnam with good friends, I felt anxiously responsible to ascertain that everything must be well organized and everyone satisfied. This is why I am so very, very glad to have found Impress Travel. Mr. Mark responded quickly to all my inquiries, customized a wonderful trip according to the group's preferences, tirelessly worked out every detail for our 7-day trip, all at a reasonable price. Our guide, Trung, is knowledgeable, helpful, quick to respond to any need, and well-loved by everyone in the group. All my friends found this a marvelous trip, filled with beautiful memories, very much to my delight and relief!

Hanoi,Sapa,Hanoi,Danang,Hanoi 8D7N Online searching for a reliable travel agent n come across Impress Travel. Contacted

Accommodations were good especially Thang Long Espana Hotel (the Hotel Management automated upgraded us to VIP rooms. Is really unexpected). Overalled tours n places visited very well but only local guides r not good organizing the itineraries. Especially at Sapa Lao Cai and Cat Cat Villages walking tours push to the same day about 8hours for 7km (which is on 1st&2nd days arrival) so tiring. Lunch not good enough 4 so many hours of walking. In Danang Bana Hill the local guide shd arrange 2 visit Bana Hill 1st n not last coz' spend a short time n not nice photos taken due to rain (went in morning time no rain).
Overall tours, hotels, transportation, prices are strongly recommended. Especially Daniel Dang Impress Travel for welcoming and bye-bye wishes.
Daniel Dang tks from 8 of us having a wonderful time n memorable trip for 8D7N Sapa, Hanoi, Danang with Impress Travel. Meet u all again.

5days Hanoi-Tam Coc-Ninh Binh-Halong Bay

We are family of 6 from Singapore and Malaysia joining Hanoi Impress Travel on 30 October-04 November 2019. We are really impressed with the company and tour guides with their professionalism and well organised arrangement. Lily is our guide for Hanoi, Tam Coc and Ninh Binh. She is excellent and very informative. She even taking care of us until late night. We walk us from Old Quarters to the hotel and brought us to try the famous road side foods. She even helped us to pay for our order to avoid overcharge by the stall. Another guide, David BK (Swan Cruise) brought us to Halong Bay cruise. He is excellent and humorous. He handles everything throughout the trip. He served meals for guests on the cruise, organised happy hour, guiding us for Kayaking, teaching Taiji and cooking class on cruise. The cruise ship is ok and the hotel in Hanoi-Adamas Hotel is small but new and clean with reasonable ok breakfast. Anyway thank you for the wonderful arrangement.

5D/4N Hanoi-Ninh Binh- Halong Bay

I was searching for a reliable travel agent and come across Impress Travel and the many reviews of them. I booked 5D/4N, Hanoi-Trang An-Halong Bay private trip for a party of 6. I communicated with Mr Daniel Dang throughout the time until the day we arrived. Mr Daniel is very patient, helpful, and accommodating to our requirements despite many changes made to the itinerary. The price is very reasonable unlike other travel agents.
Our tour guide, Lily was very friendly and efficientknowledgeable and speak good English.
Highly recommend “Trang An Boat Tour”. The caves was spectacular and beautifully.
2D/1N Halong Bay – Swan Cruise was awesome with amazing view of the cave. Our guide Mr David was hilarious, helpful, accommodating, and everything was well organized. Beside the normal
activities of kayaking, swimming, Tai Chi, culinary lesson, we are indeed very very fortunate to have
the chance to celebrate the “Mooncake Festival” while cruising and admiring the full moon.
Spread of mooncake, dessert, sweet snack, fruits, cocktail, beer and mini dragon dance complete the celebration. Tourists from all over the world party all night long.

Although we paid for a 3-star package, the hotel (Thang Long Espana Hotel), meals and transport provided were also above average. Our gang have a very enjoyable and memorable trip in Hanoi.
Impress Travel really impressed us with their service and will engage their service in future.
P/S:- Don’t worry, Impress Travel CAN be trusted.
