Safety Tips and Guidelines

Safety is the first highlight of the Sapa trekking tours. Here are some guidelines to keep in mind:

  • Stay Hydrated: Keep yourself well-hydrated throughout and drink lots of water to avoid altitude sickness.
  • Pace Yourself: Do not view trekking as a race where you are competing to the last second. It is more important to take frequent breaks, rest for a bit, and enjoy the scenery.
  • Follow the Guide: With years of experience, our guides will ensure that you are safe. Listen to their instructions and don’t stray from the group.
  • Be prepared for weather changes: Sapa’s weather is known to change frequently. Even if the forecast looks clear, bring a jacket and some warm clothing anyway.
  • Respect Local Customs: Sapa is inhabited by various ethnic groups. Show respect towards the local customs and traditions.
  • Leave No Trace: If one carries out all his/her trash and minimizes the impact on the environment, Sapa’s beauty stays.

Best Times of the Year to Visit Sapa

The difference you will find in your Sapa trekking tours might lie in good timing while visiting. Here are the best times for trekking in Sapa:

  • September to November: This is the time when trekking season is at its peak. It has pleasant and dry weather, with rice terraces in every possible golden hue, making the views outstanding.
  • March to May: The spring season with a mild climate and flowering adds beauty to your landscapes during a trek.
  • Avoid the Rainy Season (June to August): Although that is the time it is most green and beautiful, trails can be very slippery.
