Why Choose September 23rd Park for Ho Chi Minh Picnic Tours?
Natural Beauty and Prime Location
September 23rd Park
Above all, September 23rd Park is very centrally located, hence very easy to access, more so if you are already on a Ho Chi Minh City Tour. From Bến Thành Market, the famous walking street of Nguyễn Huệ-to the lively Bùi Viện backpacker area, it’s just there, ready to welcome you with its greenery and peaceful atmosphere. It’s like stepping into a natural oasis amidst the city’s urban buzz, offering you the perfect escape without needing to leave the center of town!
A Rich Historical Backdrop
Did you know that this nice park used to host the very busy railway station built by the French back in the 19th century? The area where the present park is located served as the central place for trains back in Saigon, which played a very important role in the history of the city during the colonial era. Nowadays, after the removal of the station to relocate to another place and also to tear off the rail track, over time, it has been transformed into the park we see today. While you are enjoying this Ho Chi Minh Picnic Tour here, you are not just enjoying yourself in nature, but sitting on a part of history. This transformation of the old station into one of the lungs of the city adds even more fascination to your picnic experience.
Peace and Serenity in the Heart of the City
Despite being situated right in one of the busiest areas in Ho Chi Minh City, September 23rd Park is a tranquil oasis. There are tall trees to sit under for ample shade, the grass is just right for laying out a blanket, and the soft breeze makes it an ideal place to kick back and enjoy your picnic. Amongst the most-visited spots for the Ho Chi Minh Picnic Tour, families, and friends, as well as solitary tourists, run to get away from the hustle and bustle. Whether you choose to chat with friends here, eat in silence, or people-watch, the serene park environment will surely avail you of time to relax for one and all.
A Cultural and Social Hub
But that is not all about peace! September 23rd Park also stands as a vibrant cultural focal point: any day, one can happen upon a frenzied cultural festival, a performance on the Sen Hong Stage, or even a local food market. It stages everything from concerts to holiday celebrations. If you’re interested in catching locals or practicing your English, the park is a very famous point for English-speaking clubs that allow locals and tourists to get together to chat and exchange language skills. You grasp this perfect opportunity to connect with people during your Ho Chi Minh Picnic Tour and catch an actual feel of the local pulse of the place.
Accessibility for Tourists
Another great aspect of September 23rd Park is that it’s truly easy to get to. If one is already on a Ho Chi Minh City Tour, then it’s pretty easy to get here. You can get any one of the numerous buses passing by-03, 04, 19, and 93 among others. Day 02
HO CHI MINH CITY TOUR AND CU CHI TUNNELS
Your guide and driver will pick you up at your hotel. We will visit the following places of interest:
The Reunification Palace: Here on April 30th, 1975 the Vietnam War officially ended when tank number 843 of the North Vietnamese Army crashed through the gates of what was, at the time the residence of the President of the Republic of Vietnam.
War Remnants Museum: Formerly known as the Museum of American War Crimes, this is a poignant display of the futility of war. Some of the black and white photography in the ‘Requiem’ exhibit is particularly touching, dedicated to both foreign and Vietnamese journalists and photographers who perished during the conflict. The courtyard outside contains the spoils of war, namely rusting jets, tanks and cannons captured from the American military machine.
Notre Dame Cathedral and Old Post Office: Built between 1877 and 1883 this is one of the best examples of classical French colonial architecture. Remarkably every stone used in its creation was shipped from France to Vietnam. Her two 40m towers, topped with iron spires dominate the city’s skyline. The Old Post Office is another example of French colonial architecture and is also the country’s largest post office.
Jade Emperor Pagoda: Building in 1909 in honor of the supreme Taoist god, this is one of the most spectacularly atmospheric temples in HCMC, stuffed with statues of phantasmal divinities and grotesque heroes. The pungent smoke of incense fills the air, obscuring the exquisite woodcarvings.
Cu Chi Tunnels: Watch a short introductory video showing how they were constructed, then spend the next hour exploring the maze of tunnels. Also, on display are various mantraps, the remains of an American tank and numerous bomb craters made by 500 pound bombs dropped by B52 bombers. For those interested there’s even the opportunity to fire off rounds from an AK47 or MK16 at the nearby rifle range
