Tips and Useful Information for Families Visiting Sala Urban Park
Best Time to Visit
Timing is of the essence when it comes to planning your Ho Chi Minh Tours! The best times to visit Sala Urban Park are early in the morning or late in the afternoon, particularly during the hot summer months that start from May through September. The mornings are quiet, just perfect for a brisk walk or an early picnic, while the evenings turn the park into a magical space because of beautiful lighting displays. It is advisable to avoid the midday heat, especially when going with young children, as the Sun might get unbearably hot. You can better explore the serene surroundings of the park during weekdays, though weekends are more crowded, with most families having picnics and enjoying themselves.
What to Pack for a Family Day Out
Bring the following on your Ho Chi Minh City family tours to Sala Urban Park for a headache free day: lots of water to keep everyone hydrated, at least on the hottest days of the year; sunscreen to protect your skin against the strong tropical sun; hats and sunglasses to further protect you. If you want to picnic, bring along some snacks, a picnic blanket, and even fun toys or games to entertain the kids. Comfort shoes are a good idea, too, as you’re probably going to want to take those paths and enjoy the scenery. A little first aid kit includes band-aids and insect repellent.
Facilities at Sala Urban Park
One of the best things about Sala Urban Park is that it caters so well to families; the amenities make one’s visit comfortable. The park houses clean, well maintained restrooms that are very convenient when especially desired with little ones. Next to them is a snack shack with food stalls and cafés where you can have something to eat or drink. If you drive, parking is easily available, and there are shaded areas where you can safely park your car. There are benches and picnic spots throughout the park so that you will always find a place to rest and enjoy the surroundings.
Safety Measures for Families
Whenever going on a family tour of Ho Chi Minh City, and landing in Sala Urban Park, the issue of safety should always come first. This is especially so if you have kids tagging along with you on tour. Keep an eye on the children always since there are lakes and fountains around Sala Urban Park. The scenery is gracefully beautiful, thus getting distracted is easy; hence, one needs to ensure that the children stay within safe boundaries. Crowded areas, especially during the weekends, can be tricky to navigate, so it’s a good idea to set a meeting point in case anyone gets separated. If you’re cycling or using other sports equipment in the park, make sure to use designated paths to avoid accidents.
Admission Information and Park Hours
Good news for Ho Chi Minh Tours families: entrance to Sala Urban Park is free! The park is open from 4:00 AM onward until 11:00 PM, so you pretty much have all day to squeeze it in around your other Ho Chi Minh City family tours. Sometimes, the park will host events or activities, including outdoor yoga sessions or cultural performances, so be sure to check and see if something is going on you can incorporate into your visit.
Sustainability and Environmental Practices
But this is not all; Sala Urban Park is also one of the most impressive examples of sustainable and eco friendly tourism. The park is designed to inspire the greening of lives and raise environmental awareness, with plenty of green areas, native plants, and clean water features. Families can help add to the efforts of the park by practicing responsible tourism. Waste should be disposed of properly by using the appropriate bins, avoiding litter, and letting the beauty of nature in the park be preserved by not disturbing those plants and wild animals. Bringing in reusable water bottles and eco friendly picnic supplies is another way of supporting the park’s environmental mission.

The Reunification Palace: Here on April 30th, 1975 the Vietnam War officially ended when tank number 843 of the North Vietnamese Army crashed through the gates of what was, at the time the residence of the President of the Republic of Vietnam.
War Remnants Museum: Formerly known as the Museum of American War Crimes, this is a poignant display of the futility of war. Some of the black and white photography in the ‘Requiem’ exhibit is particularly touching, dedicated to both foreign and Vietnamese journalists and photographers who perished during the conflict. The courtyard outside contains the spoils of war, namely rusting jets, tanks and cannons captured from the American military machine.
Notre Dame Cathedral and Old Post Office: Built between 1877 and 1883 this is one of the best examples of classical French colonial architecture. Remarkably every stone used in its creation was shipped from France to Vietnam. Her two 40m towers, topped with iron spires dominate the city’s skyline. The Old Post Office is another example of French colonial architecture and is also the country’s largest post office.
Jade Emperor Pagoda: Building in 1909 in honor of the supreme Taoist god, this is one of the most spectacularly atmospheric temples in HCMC, stuffed with statues of phantasmal divinities and grotesque heroes. The pungent smoke of incense fills the air, obscuring the exquisite woodcarvings.
Cu Chi Tunnels: Watch a short introductory video showing how they were constructed, then spend the next hour exploring the maze of tunnels. Also, on display are various mantraps, the remains of an American tank and numerous bomb craters made by 500 pound bombs dropped by B52 bombers. For those interested there’s even the opportunity to fire off rounds from an AK47 or MK16 at the nearby rifle range
