The first step of our journey started when we landed. A private Elwood Premier shuttle was waiting at the curb outside the arrival gate, cool and accommodating. The drive itself felt like a preview of paradise lush greenery, sea breeze, and village life blinking by outside our windows.
12:15 PM – Scenic Drive to Elwood Premier Resort
We continued north to Ong Lang Beach, a tranquil corner of the island. Guests were already photographing before check-in!
1:00 PM – Check-in and Welcome Drink

6:30 PM – Seafood Dinner at Elwood Garden Restaurant

Now we were off south for a full day of Phu Quoc Island Trails. First stop: the historic Phu Quoc Prison.
9:15 AM – Visit to Phu Quoc Prison (Coconut Tree Prison)
A powerful start to the day. The museum-like layout, the preserved cells and the accounts of resilience had everyone in hushed contemplation.
10:30 AM – Ho Quoc Pagoda
Ho Quoc Pagoda sat on a mountainside, commanding panoramic views and serene energy. Under dragon-carved roofs, guests lit incense and made silent wishes.
11:45 AM – Cable Car Ride to Hon Thom Island
Our ride took 15 minutes on the Hon Thom Cable Car, and much of the time we were treated to panoramic views of the sea under us, coral reefs, and fishing boats. It’s one of those things you remember long after the trip is over.
12:30 PM – Buffet Lunch on Hon Thom Island
We had lunch on the beach with grilled meats, stir-fried vegetables, and sticky rice, hearty and tasty.
2:00 PM – Snorkeling and Paddleboarding
Some guests paddled on stand-up paddleboards and snorkeled through colorful coral reefs. I stayed ashore with a handful of travelers who were more into coconut drinks and hammocks.
5:00 PM – Return to the Resort
The ride back was quiet, sun-soaked, and satisfied.
7:00 PM – Dinner at Xin Chao Restaurant
In Duong Dong town, we ate by the sea at Xin Chao, known for its grilled squid and fish hot pot. The evening was wrapped with laughter, clinking glasses, and full bellies.

7:00 AM – Early Morning Breakfast at Elwood

Vinpearl Safari, the biggest semi-wild zoo in Vietnam, impressed every visitor, young and old. We went on the open bus ride through habitats of giraffes, rhinos, zebras, and even white lions. A little boy in our group whispered, “I’ve never seen animals this close without cages.”
11:30 AM – Return toward Duong Dong town with Cultural Stops
We left the safari and drove back slowly, taking time-tested detours.
First, a pepper farm, where tourists sampled sun-dried black pepper harvested directly from the vine. Then we made a stop at a local pearl workshop authentic, not touristy, where we learned about how Phu Quoc’s pearls are harvested and then transformed into jewelry.
1:00 PM – Lunch at a Local Eatery
We visited a lesser-known place in Cua Can, where grilled location, green papaya salad, and lemongrass clams were served in bamboo baskets. Everyone agreed it was our best meal so far.
3:00 PM – Back at Elwood: Spa or Infinity Pool Time
It was a rich morning but our resort beckoned us home. Some guests indulged in a classic herbal massage at Elwood’s spa and wellness zone, and others floated languidly in the infinity pool, its surface glittering in the afternoon sun.

That night, the chefs constructed a small barbecue in the garden. Tables glowed with candles and the air was thick with the scent of grilled prawns and scallops in garlic butter.

Guests went back to their rooms, squaring up tropical pancakes and iced coffee and beginning to pack slowly, reluctantly. No one was ready to go.
