Tours Itinerary

Day 1. Arrival –Vientiane (D)

Upon arrival at Vientiane, the laid-back capital of Laos, you will be warmly welcomed by our local staff and transferred to your hotel. After check-in and a short rest, begin exploring this charming city, which blends Lao, Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese, French, and American influences.

Your city tour includes:

  • Wat Sisaket – the oldest surviving temple in Vientiane, famous for its thousands of miniature Buddha images.

  • Wat Prakeo – the former royal temple, once home to the revered Emerald Buddha.

  • That Luang Stupa – the national symbol and the most important religious monument in Laos.

  • Patuxay Monument – Vientiane’s own Arc de Triomphe, where you can pause for photos.

In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner at one of the city’s fine local restaurants, sampling authentic Lao cuisine.

Day 2 – Vientiane – Buddha Park – Vang Vieng (B, L)

After breakfast, begin the day with an excursion to the Buddha Park (Xieng Khuan), an intriguing riverside garden filled with over 200 Buddhist and Hindu statues. The giant reclining Buddha, mythical creatures, and elaborate sculptures make this a unique photo stop.

If time allows, continue to explore:

  • Morning Market (Talat Sao): a lively place where locals shop for textiles, jewellery, handicrafts, and fresh produce.

  • Ban Nong Bouathong: a traditional weaving village, where you can observe local artisans hand-weaving Lao silk and cotton fabrics.

Later, transfer to the railway station and board an express train to Vang Vieng. This small riverside town is surrounded by dramatic karst mountains and lush landscapes. Upon arrival, enjoy free time to relax and admire the peaceful scenery.

In the late afternoon, head to the Nam Song River to witness a spectacular sunset panorama, with the limestone cliffs glowing in golden hues reflected on the water.

Day 3 – Vang Vieng Cave Exploration & Local Life (B, L)

After breakfast and hotel check-in, set out to discover the natural and cultural highlights of Vang Vieng.

  • Tham Jang Cave: Once used as a refuge by locals during the Chinese invasion in the early 19th century, this cave offers fascinating stalactite formations and sweeping views of the valley below.

  • Tham Phoukham Cave: Drive through picturesque rice paddies and rural landscapes to reach this magnificent limestone cavern, considered one of Laos’ most beautiful caves. Its impressive chambers are surrounded by lush forest.

  • Local Encounters: Along the way, meet villagers in nearby communities and gain insights into their traditional lifestyle and daily activities.

  • Blue Lagoon: At the entrance of Tham Phoukham Cave lies a small natural pool of turquoise water. Take the chance to swim and cool off from the tropical heat.

In the evening, return to your hotel for a restful night in Vang Vieng.

Day 4: Vang Vieng – Luang Prabang by (Express Train/C82 08.30- 09.30) (B, L)

After breakfast, transfer to the station for an express train journey through stunning mountain scenery to Luang Prabang, a UNESCO World Heritage city often described as “the best-preserved town in Southeast Asia.”

Upon arrival, meet our local staff and transfer to your hotel for check-in and a short rest. In the afternoon, start discovering the highlights of Luang Prabang:

  • National Museum (former Royal Palace): a cultural treasure displaying royal regalia, religious artifacts, and historical collections that showcase the richness of Lao heritage.

  • Mount Phousi: climb 328 steps to the sacred golden stupa and enjoy breathtaking panoramic views over the city, the Mekong and Nam Khan rivers – especially beautiful at sunset.

  • Luang Prabang Night Market: stroll through a lively evening bazaar offering handmade textiles, traditional crafts, and souvenirs created by local and hill-tribe artisans.

Note: According to local regulations, vehicles with more than 16 seats are not permitted in the city center of Luang Prabang.

Day 5 – Luang Prabang Heritage & Kuang Si Waterfalls (B, L)

After breakfast, discover why Luang Prabang is celebrated not only for its gilded temples but also for its rich cultural heritage.

  • Wat Sene: the city’s oldest temple, beautifully restored with golden façades.

  • Wat Xieng Thong: the most magnificent monastery in Laos, renowned for its sweeping roofs and the intricate “Tree of Life” mosaic made of colored glass.

The journey continues to the countryside, passing through ethnic minority villages where you can witness traditional lifestyles and handicrafts. Arrive at the stunning Kuang Si Waterfalls, where tiered cascades tumble into turquoise pools. Swim, relax, or enjoy a short walk along shaded forest paths. On the way, visit the Bear Rescue Center, which protects endangered Asian black bears in a natural environment.

Returning to the city, stop at the Ock Pop Tok Living Craft Center by the Mekong River. Here, local artisans demonstrate weaving, spinning, and batik-making techniques, offering an authentic insight into Laos’ textile traditions. Conclude the day with a serene sunset over the Mekong River.

Day 6 – Mekong Cruise to Pak Ou Caves & Nong Khiaw (B, L)

This morning, embark on a scenic upstream cruise along the Mekong River, offering sweeping views of the tranquil countryside. En route, stop at the sacred Pak Ou Caves, a pilgrimage site where thousands of Buddha images have been placed by devotees over the centuries.

Continue the journey by road into the dramatic mountain landscapes of Nong Khiaw, a peaceful riverside town surrounded by towering limestone cliffs. Upon arrival, explore:

  • Tham Pha Tok Cave: a historic site where villagers sought refuge during the Indochina War.

  • Ban Manda War Museum: a community-based museum that tells the story of local resilience during the U.S. bombing campaigns.

Optional: If time and energy permit, hike up to Pha Xomnang Viewpoint. The uphill trail rewards you with breathtaking 360° views of Nong Khiaw, its valley, and the surrounding karst mountains. Spend time soaking in the panorama before descending back to town.

The remainder of the day is free at leisure to relax or explore Nong Khiaw at your own pace.

Day 7 – Nong Khiaw Longboat Cruise, Tad Mok Waterfall & Return to Luang Prabang (B, L)

This morning, board a traditional longboat and cruise upstream on the Nam Ou River, passing through breathtaking limestone cliffs and lush jungle scenery.

  • Riverside Village Visit: Stop at a small village along the riverbank. Stroll around to observe daily life, and if it is a school day, visit the local classroom to meet the children and experience authentic Lao village life.

  • Tad Mok Waterfall: Continue by boat to Ban Sop Kong, a Khmu ethnic village. From here, enjoy an hour’s trek through forest trails to reach the beautiful Tad Mok Waterfall. Relax, swim in the cool waters, and take in the pristine natural surroundings.

After the excursion, return to the boat and cruise downstream to Nong Khiaw. Upon arrival, meet your driver and transfer back to Luang Prabang for overnight stay.

Day 8 – Luang Prabang Departure (B)

After breakfast, enjoy some free time before your departure.

Optional (if time permits): Visit the lively Phosi Morning Market, where locals shop for everything from dried buffalo skins and fresh produce to Lao teas, spices, and hill-tribe textiles. It’s a fascinating glimpse into everyday life in Luang Prabang.

Afterwards, transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
