The site is very significant historically having structures of Hindu deities like Shiva and Vishnu. The detailed carvings and writings tell of the spiritual life and style of the Cham people. The towers and temples in this city were built of special metals that amazed historians, which have been a subject of research from archaeologists too. The fact that these structures were built entirely without mortar – instead using precisely carved bricks – speaks to the Chimingesewrs construction technique.
