Legend has it that, in the 15th century, the gods rewarded Emperor Le Loi with a magical sword with which to defeat the Chinese invaders. After the victory, boating up the lake he was surprised by a giant golden turtle that took the sword up to its divine owners. This is how the name came to this lake and the mystical appeal to it.
