Day 1: Hanoi – Nghia Lo – Muong Lo Valley

Leaving Hanoi in the morning with your private guide and driver, you will be travelling west through the changing landscapes of the Red River Delta and the forested foothills of Northern Vietnam. As the road climbs into Yen Bai’s mountainous countryside, enjoy views of tea plantations, rice fields and small rural settlements.

You arrive in Nghia Lo, situated within the beautiful Muong Lo Valley—one of the largest rice-growing valleys in Northwest Vietnam. After lunch and check-in, you begin a gentle cycling excursion or guided village walk through the surrounding countryside. Passing rice paddies, traditional stilt houses and villages inhabited mainly by the Thai ethnic community.

Day 2: Nghia Lo – Tu Le – Khau Pha Pass – Mu Cang Chai

After having the breakfast, you depart Nghia Lo and follow a spectacular mountain route towards Mu Cang Chai. Stop in Tu Le, a picturesque valley surrounded by mountains and terraced rice fields. Taking a leisurely walk-through a nearby Thai village and, subject to local availability, relax in a natural hot spring.

Day 3: Mu Cang Chai Rice Terrace Trek – Che Cu Nha and La Pan Tan

Today is dedicated to one of the journey’s finest trekking experiences. After breakfast, you will transfer to Che Cu Nha Commune, where your trek begins through valleys, mountain paths and spectacular terraced fields.

Follow local trails through H’Mong communities and observe how generations of farmers have shaped the steep terrain into an extraordinary agricultural landscape. Your guide will explain traditional farming methods, seasonal cultivation and the importance of rice production to local families.

Next, you continue traveling towards La Pan Tan, renowned for its sweeping terrace formations and photogenic hilltop viewpoints. Depending on weather and trail conditions, today’s trek covers approximately 10–13 kilometres and can be adjusted to suit your fitness level.

Day 4: De Xu Phinh – Mu Cang Chai – Sapa

Beginning the morning with breakfast before visiting De Xu Phinh, one of Mu Cang Chai’s most impressive but less frequently visited rice terrace areas. Then, you will take a short trek through the village, enjoying views of cascading fields, forested slopes and traditional H’Mong homes.

You continue traveling towards Sapa via Tan Uyen and Lai Chau. The scenic journey passes tea plantations, mountain valleys and remote highland settlements. Cross O Quy Ho Pass, one of Vietnam’s longest mountain passes, and stop at selected viewpoints when weather conditions permit. A further stop may be made at Silver Waterfall before descending into Sapa.

After enjoying the lunch, you continue visiting to Ta Phin Valley for a gentle walk through a Red Dao community. Learn about local medicinal plants, textile traditions and everyday village life before returning to Sapa. Check in at your hotel and enjoy dinner at a local restaurant.
