Tours Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrival in Vientiane

After a brief introduction, enjoy a comfortable private transfer to your selected hotel in downtown Vientiane. During the journey, your guide will provide a short orientation about the capital, including useful local tips, highlights of the programme ahead, and recommendations for dining or evening leisure.

Once checked in, take time to settle in and refresh after your flight. In the late afternoon, you may join your guide for a leisurely stroll along the Mekong riverside promenade, a favourite spot for both locals and visitors to enjoy the sunset. This is a perfect opportunity to absorb the relaxed atmosphere of Vientiane, with its blend of French-colonial charm, riverside cafés, and vibrant street life.

For dinner, we recommend sampling traditional Lao cuisine at a local restaurant (optional, arrangements can be made upon request). The rest of the evening is at your leisure to explore the night market or simply relax at your hotel.

Overnight stay in Vientiane

Day 2 – Vientiane City Tour & Buddha Park (B/L)

After breakfast at the hotel, begin your guided exploration of Vientiane, a capital that blends tranquil charm with timeless spirituality. Your morning sightseeing includes:

  • Wat Sisaket – the oldest surviving temple in Vientiane, renowned for its cloister walls filled with thousands of tiny Buddha images.

  • Wat Ho Prakeo – once the royal temple, now a museum housing a remarkable collection of Lao and Khmer religious art.

  • That Luang Stupa – the national symbol of Laos, covered in gleaming gold, representing both the Buddhist faith and Lao sovereignty.

  • Patuxay Monument – often referred to as the “Victory Gate,” offering panoramic views of the city from its upper terrace.

Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, where you can taste authentic Lao flavours.

In the afternoon, embark on an excursion to the fascinating Buddha Park (Xieng Khuan), located about 25 km from the city. Here you will discover an extraordinary open-air sculpture park featuring more than 200 Buddhist and Hindu statues, including a giant reclining Buddha and intricate mythological figures, creating a surreal yet captivating atmosphere.

Return to Vientiane in the late afternoon. The evening is at leisure to relax or explore the riverside night market at your own pace.

Day 3 – Vientiane → Nam Ngum Lake → Vang Vieng (B/L)

After breakfast, depart Vientiane by road towards Nam Ngum Lake, a vast and picturesque reservoir surrounded by mountains and lush countryside. Upon arrival at Nam Ngum Lake, embark on a peaceful boat trip across the calm waters. Cruise past small islands and floating fishing villages, where you will witness local families living in harmony with the lake. Lunch will be served at a lakeside restaurant, offering a chance to savour regional specialities while enjoying scenic views.

In the afternoon, continue your journey north to Vang Vieng, a town famous for its dramatic limestone karst landscape. If time permits, visit the impressive Tham Jang Cave, once used as a hideout during times of invasion, and enjoy panoramic views over the Nam Song River valley.

Arrive at your hotel in the late afternoon and check in. The evening is free at leisure – you may choose to relax or explore the lively riverside atmosphere of Vang Vieng.

Your guide will introduce you to the most significant sites, including Site 1, Site 2, and Site 3, where you will learn about the myths, historical theories, and recent UNESCO recognition of this unique heritage.

Day 7 – Xieng Khouang → Ban That Hium (B/L)

After breakfast, depart Phonsavan and travel through the remote landscapes of northern Laos. In the morning, stop at the Nam Et–Phou Louey Conservation Centre, a renowned protected area home to some of the country’s rarest wildlife, including clouded leopards, gibbons, and Asiatic black bears. Here you will learn about ongoing conservation projects, eco-tourism initiatives, and the importance of biodiversity in this pristine environment.

Continue your journey towards Ban That Hium, a rural community surrounded by forested mountains and rivers. Along the way, enjoy stops at scenic waterfalls and local villages, where you can observe traditional wooden houses, meet friendly villagers, and witness authentic daily life. These encounters offer meaningful insights into the region’s cultural and natural heritage.

Arrive in Ban That Hium by late afternoon and check in to your basic community-based accommodation. On arrival at the falls, enjoy time to walk along shaded forest trails and admire the turquoise cascades tumbling into natural pools. Take a refreshing swim, relax by the water’s edge, or explore the nearby Bear Rescue Centre, which protects endangered Asiatic black bears. Return to Luang Prabang in the late afternoon, with the evening free to relax or explore the town at your leisure.

Overnight in Luang Prabang.

Day 10 – Luang Prabang & Kuang Si Waterfall (B/L)

Rise early if you wish to witness or join the dawn almsgiving ritual, a serene and spiritual tradition where saffron-robed monks collect offerings from local residents. This unique experience offers an authentic insight into Laos’ Buddhist culture.

After breakfast, begin your guided city exploration with highlights including:

While here, visit the nearby Bear Rescue Centre, a sanctuary protecting endangered Asiatic black bears from poaching and illegal trade.

Return to Luang Prabang in the late afternoon. The evening is free at leisure to relax at your hotel or stroll through the famous Luang Prabang Night Market, known for its handicrafts and laid-back charm.

Overnight stay in Luang Prabang.

Day 11 – Luang Prabang → Elephant Village Camp (B/L)

After breakfast, transfer from your hotel to the Elephant Village Camp, an eco-tourism project dedicated to the protection and conservation of rescued elephants. Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by the camp team and given an introduction to their mission of providing a safe, natural environment for these gentle giants.

Spend the morning learning about elephant care and conservation practices, including feeding, bathing, and understanding their behaviour. For those interested, an optional mahout experience is available, where you can try basic commands under expert supervision. Please note that all activities follow eco-friendly principles, ensuring the elephants’ wellbeing – traditional riding is not encouraged, but short bareback sessions may be offered under strict ethical guidelines.

After a local lunch at the camp’s riverside restaurant, the afternoon is free to relax. You may enjoy the peaceful surroundings, take in the mountain views, or simply observe the elephants in their natural habitat.

Overnight stay at Elephant Village Camp.

Day 12 – Elephant Camp → Tad Sae Waterfall → Luang Prabang (B/L)
