Tours Itinerary

Day 1. Arrival – Luang Prabang

Activities:

  • Upon arrival at Luang Prabang International Airport, you will be warmly greeted by our local guide and driver. They will assist you with luggage and transfer you to your centrally located hotel for check-in and a short rest.

  • In the afternoon, begin your journey with a visit to the National Museum (the former Royal Palace). Here, you’ll discover a fine collection of religious treasures, royal regalia, and historic artifacts that provide fascinating insights into Laos’ cultural heritage.

  • Continue to Mount Phousi, rising in the heart of the city. Climb its 328 steps to the gilded stupa at the summit, a revered site for locals. From here, enjoy breathtaking panoramic views over Luang Prabang, the Mekong River, and the surrounding mountains, especially stunning at sunset.

  • As evening falls, stroll through the lively Luang Prabang Night Market, where dozens of stalls display beautiful handmade textiles, Hmong crafts, and local souvenirs. This is an ideal place to experience the town’s charming evening atmosphere and perhaps pick up a unique memento.

  • Return to the hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 2. Luang Prabang – Pak Ou Caves – Khouangsi Waterfall

Morning:

  • (Optional) Wake early to witness or take part in the sacred almsgiving ceremony, as saffron-robed monks walk silently through the streets collecting offerings of sticky rice. This centuries-old ritual is unique to Laos and deeply moving to observe.

  • Visit the lively Phosi Market, where locals trade everything from fresh vegetables and exotic fruits to textiles and handicrafts.

  • Explore Wat Sene, the oldest temple in Luang Prabang, and continue to the splendid Wat Xieng Thong, a masterpiece of Lao architecture, noted for its sweeping rooflines and the famous “Tree of Life” mosaic.

  • Embark on a scenic boat trip upstream along the Mekong River. Take in panoramic countryside views as you journey to the mystical Pak Ou Caves, home to thousands of Buddha statues placed there by pilgrims over the centuries. On the way, stop at Ban Muangkeo village, where locals produce the traditional Lao rice wine, known as lao lao.

Afternoon:

  • Drive through rural landscapes to reach the stunning Khouangsi Waterfall, one of the most beautiful natural sites in Laos. Relax by the turquoise pools, enjoy a refreshing swim, or wander forest trails shaded by tropical trees.
