Today, we board an upstream cruise on the Mekong River, which gives us a panoramic view of the tranquil countryside. We’ll make sure to stop at the Pak Ou Caves, sanctuaries consisting of two large caverns, both repositories for thousands of Buddha images.
We then venture into the mountainous to Nongkhiau. Upon arrival, we drive to visit the historic Tham Pha Tok cave, where local villagers hidden during the Indochina war and the nearby Ban Manda War Museum, a community-based museum which showcases local life and Lao resilience in the face of prolonged U.S. bombing raids.
[If you wish and the time permits], we take a hiking up Pha Xomnang View point. The journey mostly uphill, and leads to a panoramic landscape surrounded by karst mountains and valleys. We spend some time at the peak of the mountain to take in these amazing views and rest for a while before starting the descent back down to the hotel
