After an early breakfast, transfer to the station and board the modern express train for a scenic two-hour journey through lush landscapes to Luang Prabang, the former royal capital and UNESCO World Heritage city. Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by our guide and transferred to your hotel for check-in.
In the afternoon, begin your exploration with a visit to the Royal Palace National Museum, once the residence of the Lao monarchy. Its collection of religious treasures, gifts from foreign dignitaries, and royal artifacts offers a fascinating insight into the country’s history and culture. Continue to Wat Sene, the oldest temple in the city, followed by the magnificent Wat Xieng Thong, famed for its sweeping roofs and the glittering “Tree of Life” mosaic in colored glass.
Next, stop at the Traditional Arts & Ethnology Centre, dedicated to preserving and presenting the diverse lifestyles, handicrafts, and traditions of Laos’ many ethnic groups. Later, climb the 328 steps to the top of Mount Phousi to admire the sacred golden stupa and enjoy a spectacular sunset view over the city and the Mekong River.
As night falls, wander through the vibrant Luang Prabang Night Market, where stalls brim with hand-woven textiles, silverware, and souvenirs crafted by local and hill-tribe artisans. Overnight in Luang Prabang.
