Welcome to Cau Di Bo (Walking Bridge) in Can Tho. An architectural wonder and a site of great cultural significance for the local population. Your Mekong Tours walk at Cau Di Bo includes learning about the fascinating historical significance, architectural marvel, and lively atmosphere of this incredible bridge.
History and Significance for Mekong Tours Walk at Cau Di Bo
Opened in 2016, Cau Di Bo quickly became a symbol of Can Tho. This footbridge connecting Ninh Kieu Pier to Cai Khe Island represents both a transportation link and a symbol of the city’s burgeoning tourism and development. Before the bridge was built, the only way to cross from one side to the other was by boat, making this bridge a groundbreaking move for the city. This bridge has now become a popular visit spot for both locals and tourists, which is included in Mekong Tours. It’s a place where the splendors of modern development coincide with the great cultural riches of the Mekong Delta.
Architectural Highlights for Mekong Tours Walk at Cau Di Bo
Let’s explore the design of this amazing bridge! The Cau Di Bo has a length of 200 meters and a width of 7.2 meters, with its S form appearing like a flowing ribbon over the river. It was designed based on Can Tho’s traditional features while applying modern engineering technologies. Made of concrete and steel, the bridge was both a functioning construction and also one of the symbols of the city’s modernity and progress. You’ll be walking across the bridge over the Ryhn River with a panoramic view of the river, Ninh Kieu Pier, and the impressive Cai Rang Bridge, boasting the longest span in Southeast Asia. Mekong Tours Walk at Cau Di Bo, you’ll get a chance to see the amazing blend of ancient and modern.
Why It’s Called the “Walking Bridge"
The Cau Di Bo is endearingly referred to as the “Walking Bridge", and with good reason! In contrast with the traditional bridges we know, as they are designed to carry all types of vehicles, cars, and bicycles, this one is only for pedestrians and becomes the best space to walk peacefully. With its beautiful views and the perfect atmosphere for a stroll with a lover or just appreciating the surroundings, this bridge is the perfect place to do nothing at all. It is a place where locals go to relax in the evenings, of course, and many couples choose to take their romantic evening walks here. Your Mekong Tours walk at Cau Di Bo will give you a taste of this calm ambiance in person and will be an experience you will not forget while visiting Can Tho.
The Bridge at Night
The Cau Di Bo at night is very magical. At night, the famous bridge is adorned with colorful LED lights that make it look even more beautiful. Whereas the first trial itself was nothing more than a test, each check is like an exotic piece of art in an everchanging gallery where the lights change color at night. The Mekong Tours walk at Cau Di Bo by night is the ideal end to your day, whether you are enjoying a walk away from the roads, admiring the light-enhanced views, or simply taking pictures of this lovely sight. Its luster reflects on the water, intriguing visitors all around the world.
