Visiting two of Saigon’s most picturesque colonial buildings: The Notre Dame Cathedral and Old Post Office which were constructed by the French in the late 19th century.
Visit the Reunification Palace – which was the home and workplace of the president of the Republic of Vietnam. It was the site of the Fall of Saigon on 30 April 1975 that ended the Vietnam War, when a North Vietnamese Army tank crashed through its gates.
Visit the War Remnants Museum which contains exhibits relating to the First Indochina War and the Vietnam War.
In the afternoon, visit Cu Chi tunnels. You will watch a short introductory video showing how they were constructed, then spend the next hour exploring the maze of tunnels. Also on display are various mantraps, the remains of an American tank and numerous bomb craters made by 500 pound bombs dropped by B52 bombers. For those interested there’s even the opportunity to fire off rounds from anAK47 or MK16 at the nearby rifle range (by your own expense)
Transfer back to Ho Chi Minh city.
