09:15 AM – Huyen Khong Cave
First to be visited is the Huyen Khong Cave, exuding peace with its naturally lighted interior arising from the ceiling of the cave, thus providing a sort of surreal atmosphere. This cave houses altars and statues of Buddha, increasing the spirituality in it.
10:00 AM – Van Thong Cave
We enter the next door, Van Thong Cave, where we also go through a little pass and climb to another viewpoint eventually, again with panoramic views over the surroundings. Although this view is also a bit complicated to ascend, it is worthwhile, offering one of the best views within the Marble Mountains.
10:30 AM – Am Phu Cave
Our journey continues to Am Phu Cave, the exciting cave of Buddhist hell. This cave gives one a thought-provoking journey to the afterlife as per Buddhist beliefs with sculptures and dioramas depicting heaven and hell in a really vivid and even eerie presentation.
11:00 AM – Non Nuoc Stone Carving Village
On our way, before visiting Marble Mountain, alongside the municipal beach, will have a stop at the Non Nuoc Stone Carving Village to see talented artisans working. Being one of the oldest craft villages, and certainly one of the most famous, in Quang Nam – Danang, Nonce houses an interesting display of intricate stone sculptures. From small souvenirs to huge statues, hundreds are available here.
12:00 PM – Arrival in Hoi An
After a morning full of experiences at Marble Mountains, we continue our journey to the charming ancient town of Hoi An. We will arrive at about 12:00 PM, and after being introduced to this timeless situation, you will be caught up in it without even realizing it. Hoi An Ancient Town is one of the very famous UNESCO heritages all over the world; it’s proudly known for its incredibly well-preserved architecture, rich cultural heritage, and lively atmosphere.
12:15 PM – Japanese Covered Bridge
First and foremost, we will go to the famous Japanese Covered Bridge, arguably the face of Hoi An Ancient Town, in this ancient town. This beautiful wooden bridge epitomizing Hoi An was constructed at the beginning of the 17th century. Small in size with a pagoda and delicate wood carvings, it epitomizes interesting unique mixtures of Japanese, Chinese, and Vietnamese architecture.
12:45 PM – Traditional Wooden Houses
Next comes a wander through well-worn streets lined by Traditional Wooden Houses of over 200 years in age, with their aspects reflecting a combination of Vietnamese, Chinese, and Japanese architectural styles. We will go inside some of them, whose interiors have been preserved, providing us with views into the lives of centuries past of Hoi An’s wealthy merchants.
01:15 PM – Lunch
At around 1:15 PM, we will split up for lunch and be treated to a delicious meal at a local restaurant. Taste different flavors of Hoi An’s specialties, offering up high-quality culinary experiences just as rich as its history.
02:15 PM – Lantern-Lit Streets
One of the most captivating things about Hoi An is its Lantern-Lit Streets. During the day, they offer a great amount of activity with their multicolored lanterns overhead and vibrant markets touting local handicrafts. As night comes along, these are lit up, bathing the town in a mystical, almost fairy-tale light. After dark, there is a romantic feel to this place, reminiscent of bygone days when a slow evening walk would be commonplace.
Historical and Cultural Context of Hoi An
Hoi An ancient town is such a visual feast that is drenched in history. It was an important, booming commercial seaport during the 15th and 19th centuries that attracted merchants from across Asia and Europe. This is reflected in all segments of Hoi An—architecture, cuisine, and tradition.
02:45 PM – Cantonese Assembly Hall (Hội Quán Quảng Đông)
One such place to visit is the Cantonese Assembly Hall (Hội Quán Quảng Đông). Built in 1885, this was a site of assembly for the Cantonese people of Hoi An. It holds fine designs of the time, such as dragon statues and splendid woodwork.
03:15 PM – Fujian Assembly Hall (Hội Quán Phúc Kiến)
Another of the many high points is the Fujian Assembly Hall (Hội Quán Phúc Kiến), which was initially built in the form of a social and worshipping club for the merchants of Fujian Chinese, but today has been transformed into one of the greatest cultural and religious spots in the country. There are beautiful gardens, statues, and murals that make it a very interesting place to walk around.
03:45 PM – Tan Ky Ancient House
You should not miss Tan Ky Ancient House a centuries-old typical affiliate house of a Hoi An merchant. It’s a combination of pure Japanese, Chinese, and Vietnamese architectural styles, which recount stories of the blooming trading era of the port city.
04:15 PM – Phung Hung Ancient House
Meanwhile, the last in the series is the Phung Hung Ancient House, which is also perfectly preserved and demonstrates typical Vietnam architecture. The structure was built over 200 years ago, and for eight generations it has been passed without losing the charming constituents of the Hoi An heritage.
05:00 PM – Arrival in Danang
We will be back in Da Nang around 5:00 PM, dropped at the same first picked-up point, to conclude the memorable day.
