Located on the romantic Hoang Sa Road in the beautiful Son Tra Peninsula, Hoang Sa Museum is one of the cornerstones for the pride oar of the sea and islands’ sovereignty taken by Danang Maritime Tours. Inaugurated in 2018, this architectural work has been a monument to honor the historical and legal rights that Vietnam owns over the Hoang Sa Archipelago. The design feature of this museum draws upon the iconic “seal of sovereignty" of Vietnam. It attempts to define all that Vietnamese pride and resilience are synonymous with, hence finding its essential place in most Danang Tours.
One will be in awe of more than 300 delicately selected exhibits inside the museum, which include historic maps, rare legal documents, photographs, and records representing the many challenges and victories that have constituted Vietnam’s drive to protect its maritime territory. Whether a historian or an indifferent tourist, the displays here are sure to amaze with the depth of significance of Vietnam’s rich maritime legacy, thereby making the Hoang Sa Museum a must-visit destination on any Danang Maritime Tours.
Themes and Exhibits in Hoang Sa Museum
The exhibits in Hoang Sa Museum are arranged in five thematic areas that give comprehensive views of Vietnam’s sovereignty and its maritime history:
Theme 1: Geographical and Natural Conditions of the Hoang Sa Archipelago Hoang Sa is the archipelago that houses geographical wonders, diversified natural resources, and a strategic position in the East Sea. This theme provides a background to understand the great importance these islands played in the sea history of Vietnam.
Theme 2: Historical Documents from Vietnam’s Pre-Nguyen Dynasty Period Travel back to the 17th century, when for the first time, Vietnam documented its presence in the Hoang Sa region. These old maps and manuscripts of that time give a great picture of early exploration and governance over these islands, done in Nôm script.
Theme 3: Evidence of Sovereignty During the Nguyen Dynasty Understand better the great efforts of the Nguyen Dynasty-1802-1945-to establish and maintain its sovereignty over the Hoang Sa Archipelago through ceremony artifacts, maps, and records related to heroic “Hoang Sa Flotilla," whose missions to the islands were instrumental in asserting Vietnam’s control.
Theme 4: Modern Legal and Historical Records (1945–1974) View the post-colonial period whereby Vietnam consistently confirmed its sovereignty through the levels of administrative governance and international diplomacy. This theme presents the treaties, military presence, and actions during an exciting period in global politics.
Theme 5: Current Affirmations of Sovereignty (1974–Present) Despite such difficulties, Vietnam still supports its rights on the sea. Modern exhibits are focused on legal documents, records from the United Nations, and contemporary efforts toward declaring sovereignty over the Hoang Sa Archipelago.
Symbolism of the Museum
The Hoang Sa Museum is one of the most important symbols that express Vietnam’s commitment to its sovereignty and cultural heritage. It was designed as the “seal of sovereignty," representing the nation’s eternal control over the Hoang Sa Archipelago, while the national flag soars high as a token of unity and patriotism. Not just in architecture but also in education, the facility serves as a hub for various workshops and seminars, adding an educational element to the Danang Maritime Tours. To visitors on Danang Tours, the museum is not just a look back; it is a call to safeguard Vietnam’s maritime future and thereby leaves one with a lasting mark of pride and respect.
