Depart from Hanoi for Lao Cai, the gateway to Vietnam’s spectacular northern highlands. Depending on your preferred travel style, choose one of the following options:

• Overnight train: Leave Hanoi the previous evening in a comfortable sleeper cabin and arrive in Lao Cai early in the morning.

Upon arrival, meet your local guide and begin exploring Lao Cai City, a lively border destination shaped by Vietnamese, Chinese and ethnic minority influences.

Visit Lao Cai Square, a spacious public landmark and popular gathering place for local cultural activities. Continue to Ha Khau Border Gate, where the Red River creates a natural boundary between Vietnam and China. From the Vietnamese side, observe the contrasting urban landscapes across the border and learn about the area’s commercial importance.

Explore Coc Leu Market, one of the city’s best-known trading centers. Browse colorful ethnic fabrics, silver accessories, local produce and a variety of imported products before enjoying lunch at a local restaurant.

In the afternoon, take a scenic drive into the Hoang Lien Son Mountains. The winding road offers beautiful views of forested slopes, terraced fields and small communities nestled across the valleys.

After breakfast at the hotel, you are transfered to the Fansipan cable car station for an unforgettable journey toward the summit of Mount Fansipan, widely known as the “Roof of Indochina.”

Traveling by cable car above the Muong Hoa Valley, ancient forests and dramatic mountain slopes. Weather permitting, the journey provides extraordinary panoramic views across the Hoang Lien Son range.

Then, you will explore the spiritual complex on Fansipan, including peaceful pagodas, monumental statues and the impressive Giant Buddha. Continue toward the summit area, where you can admire the cloud-covered landscape from one of Southeast Asia’s most celebrated viewpoints. Visitors may use the mountain railway for selected sections or climb the stone steps according to their physical condition.

Next, you will return to Sapa for lunch, with a menu inspired by local ingredients such as salmon, seasonal vegetables and sticky rice.

In the afternoon, visit Cat Cat Village, home to the Black H’Mong community. Follow a scenic pathway through the village, passing traditional wooden houses, terraced fields and mountain streams. Learn about local crafts, including indigo dyeing, weaving and silverwork, while gaining insight into the customs and daily life of the H’Mong people.

Returning to the hotel for some time at leisure. You may relax at the property, explore Sapa’s cafés or browse local shops independently.

Walking along peaceful paths surrounded by rice terraces, bamboo groves and mountain scenery. In Lao Chai Village, discover the traditional lifestyle of the Black H’Mong community and observe how local families maintain their agricultural and handicraft traditions.

Next, you will continue visiting to Ta Van Village, where members of the Giay ethnic group live in traditional houses beside terraced fields and streams. The walk offers excellent opportunities for photography and meaningful encounters with local residents. Depending on weather and road conditions, stop at a scenic suspension bridge overlooking the valley.

Return to Sapa and check out of the hotel. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before descending to Lao Cai City.

Travel back to Hanoi using your selected transportation option:
