2. History:
Cai Bau Pagoda in Quang Ninh was built on the foundation of Phuc Linh Tu. To worship the generals of the Tran Dynasty in the war against the Mongol invaders in the 13th century. In the area of Cai Bau pagoda, the battle was witnessed. Thereby creating a premise for the resounding victory on the Bach Dang River in 1288.
To commemorate the merits of the Tran heroes who sacrificed to protect the nation. Truc Lam Giac Tam Zen Monastery built the temple in the spiritual area of the temple, the precedent has never been before. Through time and the vicissitudes of history, the pagoda has been severely damaged.
With extremely glorious historical significance of the country in 2007. Cai Bau Pagoda in Quang Ninh is also known as Truc Lam Giac Tam Zen Monastery. Construction started on a total area of 20 hectares in Ha Long commune, Van Don district, Quang Ninh. After 2 years to 2009, Cai Bau Van Don Pagoda (Truc Lam Giac Tam Zen Monastery) was grandly inaugurated. 3. Where is Cai Bau Pagoda?
Cai Bau Pagoda is also known as Truc Lam Giac Tam Zen Monastery. Located in Hamlet 1, Ha Long Commune, Van Don District, Quang Ninh Province. It is about 65 km from Ha Long city center. Although newly established in 2009, this is one of the Quang Ninh pagodas that attracts a lot of tourists from all over the country to visit and experience tourism here.
With the advantage of favorable terrain, the front facing Bai Tu Long Bay is immense and far away. The back is like a massive, horizontal mountain. The atmosphere here is really quiet and idyllic. For spiritual and fanatical believers, this is definitely a place not to be missed when traveling to Van Don.
4. How to get there?
From Hanoi, you follow Highway 5 to Hai Duong city. To Nam Sach town, follow Highway 183 through Sao Do town, Dong Trieu, Uong Bi, Ha Long, Cam Pha, Cua Ong to Van Don (takes about 4 to 5 hours).
If you go by car, you can catch a bus at My Dinh wharf (tickets are about 100-120 VND/way), it takes about 3.5 hours – 4 hours. However, you should also call to reserve your seat in advance and check the departure time to avoid losing time or missing your flight.
After going to Van Don, you continue to take a taxi or motorbike taxi to get to Cai Bau Pagoda.
