Established in 1942, Buu Long Pagoda, also known as To Dinh Buu Long Zen Monastery, is the temple with the most prominent Thai architecture in Saigon. About 20km from the center of Ho Chi Minh City, this unique architectural temple is a favorite place to visit and worship the Buddha of the people of the city and surrounding areas.

Buu Long Pagoda is honored to be voted by National Geographic magazine of the US as one of the 10 most beautifully designed Buddhist buildings in the world. Like a brilliant flower amidst the poetic scenery beside the gentle Dong Nai tributary, Buu Long Pagoda in District 9 has become a famous spiritual tourist destination near and far.!

Architecture:

Buu Long Pagoda in District 9 was first built in 1942, then restored and repaired over the years from 2007 to 2011. Through many events, the pagoda still retains its original unique architecture. ancient temple. Currently, the pagoda includes the following areas: campus, main hall, main hall, monks’ quarters, and amphitheater.

This place is still known by the locals with the familiar name of Thai temple because of the colorful architecture of the Golden Temple. The idea of designing Buu Long Pagoda was inspired by monk Vien Minh based on the original Buddhist architecture originating from India. Arriving here, visitors can’t help but be impressed by the unique Buddhist architecture with the harmonious combination between the original Buddhist architecture and the colors of Vietnamese culture.

Attraction:

Leaving behind the hustle and bustle of Saigon, coming to Buu Long Pagoda, you feel like you are in the midst of green nature with a pure and peaceful space. The 11-hectare campus is covered with many green leaves.

Along the entrance are rows of straight trees that add to the majesty and magnificence of the temple. In the middle of the campus, is a large turquoise lake, surrounded by elaborate carved borders. Adding a unique feature to the large campus is the looming shape of the hill to the west of the magnificent Dong Nai River.

Thai style’s architecture in Ho Chi Minh City:

It is no coincidence that the locals call Buu Long Pagoda in District 9, Ho Chi Minh City as the Thai temple. Overall, Buu Long Pagoda has the common ethos of the temples of the Golden Temple. Those are the temples that are designed and built with great feats, with a golden peak and elaborate and delicate carvings. In addition, Buu Long Pagoda also bears the mark of Vietnamese culture which is expressed through carvings and dragon statues. This place has become a Thai version of the temple and is a favorite photo spot for many young tourists.

Religious and silent place to visit:

Located separate from the city, in the middle of green hills, Buu Long Pagoda has a peaceful and pure character. Coming here, people seem to get rid of all worries, fatigue, and anger of daily life. Therefore, this place has become a favorite pilgrimage, worshiping and meditation spot for Buddhists.

Dubbed “the temple without incense", visitors come here do not need to bring incense and lamps, just have a sincere heart, worship Buddha and pray. This is also a place to visit, admire the peaceful poetic scenery of many tourists inside and outside the city.

How to go?

Option 1: How to go to Buu Long Pagoda from the direction of Thu Duc intersection

Visitors turn right into Le Van Viet and go about 4.5km to the end of the road. Here, when you see My Thanh T-junction, turn right onto Nguyen Van Tang. Continue going for another 2km, meet the right turn, which is also Nguyen Xien street, but don’t turn in but keep going straight. When you see Nguyen Van Tang High School, you notice that it’s about 1km to see Buu Long Pagoda

Option 2: Go to the temple in the direction of Thu Thiem tunnel

From Thu Thiem tunnel, visitors go straight to Mai Chi Tho Boulevard. Then turn right to Nguyen Thi Dinh, go about 700m, then turn left on Nguyen Duy Trinh. Run all the way to Nguyen Xien, continue to run all the way to Nguyen Xien then turn right, run about 3km more will come to the address of Buu Long pagoda in District 9.

Option 3: Visit the pagoda from Suoi Tien point

From Thu Duc intersection, visitors go straight in the direction of Hanoi Highway to Suoi Tien. From here, you run another 2.5km and meet the new road fork, then turn in and run all the way. Run all the way, you will meet Nguyen Xien Street, then turn right through Dong Tron bridge. Continue to go about 700m, you will see Buu Long Pagoda in District 9 on the right side of the road..

Visit the most attractive places in Ho Chi Minh City: The Notre Dame Cathedral and Old Post Office, The Reunification Palace, The War Remnants Museum, Ben Thanh market.
Have lunch, then transfer to visit Cu Chi Tunnels. First, we watch a short introductory video showing how they were constructed, then spend the next hour exploring the maze of tunnels. Also, on display are various mantraps, the remains of an American tank and numerous bomb craters made by 500-pound bombs dropped by B52 bombers. For those interested, there’s even the opportunity to fire off rounds from an AK47 or MK16 at the nearby rifle range

Day 03

Ho Chi Minh city – Mekong delta – Can Tho (B, L)

A two hour’s drive from Ho Chi Minh city to My Tho
Taking a sampan cruise along the tributaries of the Mekong River for a close-up view of local life.
Wandering through Islands and orchards where you can taste some of the huge variety of tropical fruits and listening to traditional music.
Having a local lunch then riding a bicycle around the local village. Taking a sampan back to the harbor for the 2 hour drive to Can Tho city
Checking in to our hotel and then the evening is free to enjoy at your leisure.

Day 04

Can Tho – Ho Chi Minh city (B, L)

We start the boat trip before 08:00 am otherwise we may not see the busiest and most exciting time on the floating market. We will take a boat trip and explore the vibrant floating market of Cai Rang, where the way of trading is unique; each boat usually sells one particular item, whether it be pumpkins, pineapples or sugar canes, etc.
We lunch at a local restaurant on the way back to Saigon via My Tho

Day 05

HO CHI MINH– FAREWELL ( B )
