Day 1: Hanoi – Nghia Lo – Thai Village Experience
Our tour guide and driver will meet you at your hotel in Hanoi in the morning. Leaving the capital behind, you will travel west through the fertile countryside of the Red River Delta and into the increasingly dramatic foothills of Northern Vietnam.
Besides, you can stop along the way to observe village life and enjoy panoramic views over tea plantations, rice fields and forested mountains. After lunch at a local restaurant, you will continue traveling toward Nghia Lo, a peaceful town surrounded by the vast Muong Lo Valley.
In the afternoon, you will walk through a nearby Thai village. Traditional stilt houses, small gardens and rice fields provide an inviting introduction to the culture of the local Thai community. Depending on availability, the evening may include a traditional music and dance performance.
In the evening, you will enjoy dinner featuring regional specialties.

Day 2: Nghia Lo – Tu Le Valley – Khau Pha Pass – Mu Cang Chai
After enjoying breakfast, you will depart Nghia Lo and follow a beautiful mountain road toward Tu Le. The landscape gradually opens into deep valleys framed by layered peaks and terraced hillsides.
You will stop in Tu Le for a village walk through rice fields and rural settlements inhabited mainly by the Thai people. Then, you will continue traveling toward Khau Pha Pass, whose winding road provides impressive views over Lim Mong and Lim Thai valleys. In clear weather, the viewpoint offers one of the finest panoramas along the Northwest mountain route.
After having lunch, you will descend toward Mu Cang Chai and visit La Pan Tan, renowned for its intricately carved rice terraces. Walking along village trails to admire the fields from different perspectives and learn about traditional farming methods developed over generations.
Arriving at your accommodation in the late afternoon and enjoy a peaceful evening in the mountains.

Day 3: Mu Cang Chai Rice Terraces – Than Uyen – O Quy Ho Pass – Sapa
In the morning, you will begin the day with breakfast before exploring more of Mu Cang Chai’s celebrated terraced countryside. Depending on the season, the fields may appear mirror-like during the watering period, vivid green in summer or golden during the autumn harvest.
Next, you will visit a selected terrace viewpoint or take a short walk around a Hmong village such as Che Cu Nha or De Xu Phinh. The precise location may be adjusted according to weather, road conditions and seasonal scenery.
Later, you will travel toward Than Uyen through an isolated landscape of tea hills, valleys and mountain villages. After lunch, you will continue traveling toward the Hoang Lien Son Range and cross O Quy Ho Pass. Besides, you can stop at a suitable viewpoint to admire the surrounding peaks and, weather permitting, Fansipan Mountain.
Arriving in Sapa in the late afternoon. You will check in and enjoy time to explore the town before dinner.

Day 4: Sapa – Lao Chai – Ta Van Village Trek – Ha Giang
After your breakfast, you will begin a scenic trek through the Muong Hoa Valley. Following local paths toward Lao Chai, home to the Black Hmong community, while enjoying views of terraced slopes, small streams and traditional houses.
Afterward, you will continue to visit Ta Van village, where Giay and Hmong families live among rice fields at the foot of the mountains. Along the way, our guide will introduce local customs, agricultural practices and the distinctive lifestyles of Sapa’s highland communities.
After lunch, you will meet the driver and begin the overland journey to Ha Giang. The route passes through remote towns, river valleys and sparsely populated mountain countryside rarely visited on conventional tours. Several comfort and photography stops will be arranged during the drive.
Arriving in Ha Giang in the evening and check in at your accommodation.

Day 5: Ha Giang – Quan Ba – Yen Minh – Hmong King’s Palace – Dong Van
After enjoying breakfast, you will set out along the legendary Happiness Road toward the Dong Van Karst Plateau. The scenery becomes increasingly dramatic as the road climbs into a landscape of limestone peaks and deep valleys.
You will stop at Quan Ba Heaven Gate for sweeping mountain views and admire the distinctive Twin Mountains overlooking the valley. Then, you will continue traveling through forests and winding passes toward Yen Minh, with stops arranged for photography and short village visits.
After lunch, you will travel through the atmospheric Tham Ma Pass and visit a Hmong community in the highlands. Next, you will continue to visit Sa Phin Valley to explore the former Hmong King’s Palace, an architecturally distinctive residence reflecting an important chapter in the region’s history.
Arriving in Dong Van in the late afternoon. After checking in, you will take a walk around the Old Quarter, where historic houses stand beneath rugged limestone mountains.

Day 6: Dong Van – Ma Pi Leng Pass – Nho Que River – Meo Vac – Ha Giang
In the morning, you will enjoy breakfast before departing Dong Van for one of the most spectacular sections of the journey. Traveling along Ma Pi Leng Pass, where the mountain road overlooks deep valleys, jagged limestone formations and the emerald Nho Que River far below.
Next, you will stop at scenic viewpoints to admire Tu San Canyon, whose towering cliffs form one of the most dramatic landscapes on the Ha Giang route. Subject to weather, water levels and local operating conditions, descend toward the river for an optional boat journey through the canyon.
Afterward, you will continue traveling to Meo Vac for lunch before following a scenic route back toward Ha Giang. The return journey presents further opportunities to observe remote villages and everyday life across the rocky plateau.
Arriving in Ha Giang in the early evening and enjoy dinner at a local restaurant.
Ma Pi Leng and the Nho Que River are signature landscapes of the Dong Van plateau route. The pass lies along the road linking Dong Van and Meo Vac, above Tu San Canyon.

Day 7: Ha Giang – Hanoi
After having breakfast, you will leave Ha Giang and begin the return journey to Hanoi. Traveling through mountain foothills, riverside settlements and the countryside of Northern Vietnam, with comfort breaks arranged along the way.
Then, you will stop for lunch at a local restaurant before continuing toward the capital. Arriving in Hanoi in the late afternoon or early evening, depending on traffic and road conditions.
Your guide and driver will transfer you to your hotel, bringing the Mu Cang Chai – Sapa – Ha Giang Journey: 7 Days to a close.
