Detailed Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Hanoi – Hoa Lu Ancient Capital – Trang An – Mua Cave

Our tour guide and driver will meet you at your hotel in Hanoi in the morning. Leaving the capital behind and travel through the rural landscapes of the Red River Delta toward Ninh Binh.

The first destination is Hoa Lu Ancient Capital, the political and economic centre of Dai Co Viet during the Dinh and Early Le dynasties in the 10th century. Visit the historic temples dedicated to King Dinh Tien Hoang and King Le Dai Hanh, where traditional architecture, stone courtyards, carved wooden details, and mountain surroundings create a solemn atmosphere. Your guide will introduce the turbulent history of this period and explain Hoa Lu’s important role in the foundation of an independent Vietnamese state.

After your lunch at a local restaurant, you will continue to visit the Trang An Landscape Complex, recognised by UNESCO for both its cultural and natural significance. Boarding a traditional sampan rowed by a local boatperson and travel through a spectacular network of rivers, limestone valleys, sacred sites, and water caves. The exact route may vary according to weather and local operating conditions.

Later in the afternoon, you will visit Mua Cave and climb approximately 500 stone steps to the summit of Ngoa Long Mountain. From the top, enjoy sweeping views of the Ngo Dong River winding through rice fields and limestone formations. Travellers who prefer not to climb may relax in the landscaped gardens at the foot of the mountain.

Then, you will be transferred to your accommodation, check in, and enjoy dinner.

Day 2: Cuc Phuong National Park – Van Long Nature Reserve

You will enjoy breakfast at your accommodation before departing for Cuc Phuong National Park, Vietnam’s first national park and one of the country’s most important biodiversity areas.

Beginning with a visit to the Endangered Primate Rescue Center, subject to its opening schedule. Besides, you will learn about conservation programmes for threatened species such as langurs, gibbons, and lorises, many of which have been rescued from illegal wildlife trafficking.

Next, you will continue traveling deeper into the national park for a guided forest walk. Depending on your interests and physical condition, the route can include the botanical garden, prehistoric cave, ancient trees, or a shorter nature trail. Along the way, you will discover the park’s rich flora, towering tropical trees, butterflies, birds, and limestone ecosystem.

After lunch, you will travel to Van Long Nature Reserve, the largest wetland nature reserve in the Red River Delta. Boarding a small bamboo boat and drift quietly through shallow waters, reed beds, limestone cliffs, and flooded grasslands. Moreover, this reserve provides an important habitat for numerous bird species and the endangered Delacour’s langur, although wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed.

Returning to your accommodation in the late afternoon. Dinner will be served at the hotel or a selected local restaurant.

Day 3: Bai Dinh Pagoda – Tam Coc Boat Trip and Cycling – Hanoi

Beginning the final day with breakfast at hotel, followed by check-out.

Then, you will travel to Bai Dinh Pagoda, an extensive Buddhist complex set against the limestone hills. Exploring its grand ceremonial halls, long corridors lined with Arhat statues, enormous bronze Buddha images, bell tower, and peaceful courtyards. In addition, an internal electric car is used to travel between the main entrance and the central visiting area.

Next, you will continue to visit Tam Coc for lunch featuring regional dishes. Especially, some local specialities may include mountain goat, crispy rice, seasonal vegetables, and other Northern Vietnamese favourites. Dietary requirements can be accommodated with advance notice.

In the afternoon, you will board a traditional sampan for a relaxing journey along the Ngo Dong River. Passing rice fields, rural villages, and soaring limestone mountains before travelling through the three natural caves that give Tam Coc its name. The scenery changes with the seasons, from fresh green paddies to golden rice fields and reflective waterways.

After the boat trip, you will enjoy a gentle bicycle ride through the surrounding countryside. Furthermore, you can cycle along quiet village roads beside lotus ponds, agricultural fields, traditional houses, and karst formations. For travellers who do not wish to cycle, they can explore by private vehicle or relax at a local café.

You will meet our driver and return to Hanoi in the late afternoon or early evening. The tour concludes with drop-off at your hotel.
