Day 1: Hanoi – Hoa Lu – Trang An – Hang Mua – Ninh Binh
Depart from Hanoi in the morning and travel around 90 km to Ninh Binh, one of Northern Vietnam’s most beautiful heritage destinations. Upon arrival, visit the ancient capital of Hoa Lu or enjoy a gentle cycling route through the peaceful villages around Tam Coc.
After lunch, board a sampan boat to explore Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex, famous for its winding rivers, limestone karsts, hidden caves and tranquil valleys. Later, climb around 500 stone steps to the top of Hang Mua, where a panoramic view of the Ngo Dong River and surrounding mountains awaits. Overnight in a homestay or hotel in Tam Coc or Trang An.
Day 2: Ninh Binh – Xuan Thuy National Park – Hanoi
After breakfast, drive about 70 km from Ninh Binh to Xuan Thuy National Park in Nam Dinh. Upon arrival at Giao Thien boat station, start your boat trip into the wetland ecosystem.
Cruise through mangrove forests, tidal flats and natural bird habitats, with chances to observe migratory birds depending on the season. Visit Con Lu area, learn about clam and shellfish farming, and meet local fishermen whose daily life is closely connected with the coastal wetland. Enjoy a fresh seafood lunch in the local area before returning to Hanoi or Ninh Binh in the late afternoon. Xuan Thuy is especially suitable for bird watching from October to March.
