Day 2: Chiang Rai City Tour & Mae Kok River Cruise (B)

After breakfast at the hotel, begin the day with a visit to a local market, where you can observe daily life and discover fresh produce, spices, and handmade local goods.

Continue to Wat Phra Kaew, one of the most important temples in Thailand, historically known as the former home of the Emerald Buddha. Next, visit Wat Phra Singh, admired for its elegant Lanna-style architecture and revered Buddha image.

Afterward, take a short drive to the famous Baan Dam (Black House), an extraordinary artistic complex created by national artist Thawan Duchanee. The site is a striking blend of traditional northern Thai buildings and bold contemporary designs, functioning as an art studio, museum, and residence.

Lunch is on your own. In the afternoon, enjoy a scenic boat cruise along the Mae Kok River, traveling from Chiang Rai to a nearby Karen village. Along the riverbanks, witness lush landscapes and rural life. At the village, you may observe elephants or have the opportunity to feed them, creating a memorable and meaningful experience.

After breakfast, depart for the mountainous northern region of Thailand. Travel through winding roads surrounded by forests and green hills toward Mae Salong, an area famous for its cool climate and vast tea plantations.

Enjoy a visit to a local tea plantation, where you can taste freshly produced tea and learn about tea cultivation in this unique region. From Doi Mae Salong, continue to visit two ethnic minority villages: the Akha village of Loyo and the Lisu village of Ban Hanygo, gaining insight into their traditions, costumes, and daily life.

Proceed to the beautifully landscaped Mae Fah Luang Botanical Garden, showcasing a wide variety of flowers and plants set against a mountainous backdrop.
Later, arrive at the historic Golden Triangle. Take a boat trip on the Mekong River, offering panoramic views of the point where Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar converge.

Day 4: Chiang Saen – Thaton – Chiang Mai (B)

After breakfast, leave Chiang Saen and head toward Thaton, passing through scenic countryside. En route, stop at Patai village to meet the Padong Karen tribe, well known for the women who traditionally wear copper rings to elongate their necks. Learn about their culture, customs, and way of life.

Continue to visit a traditional Chinese medicine pharmacy, where a specialist will explain the use of herbs, roots, plants, and ointments that have been used for generations in natural healing.

In the afternoon, travel south to Chiang Mai, the cultural and historical heart of Northern Thailand. Along the way, stop at the Chiang Dao Caves, an impressive limestone cave system with underground chambers and Buddha shrines.
Arrive in Chiang Mai and transfer to your hotel.

The tour was fantastic

I booked with Impress Travel in July. My contact person was Tommy Thang. He is an amazing person. He was very helpful. He changed my program twice for me. Very accommodating!
We started our holiday in the north (Sapa)of Vietnam and travelled down to HCMC.
The tour was fantastic, Tommy's arrangements were to the"T".
I will always use them if I have to visit the area again and recommend them to one and all.
Thank you once again Mr.Tommy and the Impress Team.
